TV shows with excellent music

Teen Titans is what got me thinking about this as it manages to do so many different styles so well and uses them all beautifully. Often there's tracks that I wouldn't expect to hear or just wouldn't think of yet they work so well in context it almost surprises me.

Cowboy Bebop has possibly the best soundtrack for any show I've ever seen, the music makes the show. The intro of Tank! and the beautifully haunting final episode are like bookends to great music for every moment.

The more recent Samurai Champloo has really good design as well, though is more like Teen Titans in how well it works with the show as opposed to CB's which can stand even on its own.

What shows really pop out with great music? One thing I've noticed is that I can't think of any live-action shows with music that's anywhere near as good as the above three, and I generally don't even notice the music at all in most shows. I'm sure I've gotta be missing something somewhere but what?

Both of Judd Apatow's shows, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared had excellent soundtracks, but they were mostly liscenced songs. If you're talking about original soundtracks, uhh, how about that slap bass in Seinfeld eh? eh?

What is up w/ commercials getting better and better music in them?

Nip/Tuck. Excellent direction and editing combined with perfect music cues (both original and licensed). And I love the theme song.

Samurai Jack had an interesting soundtrack, mixing traditional Japanese intrumentals with techno. It set the mood perfectly for the show.

I agree with you on Teen Titans, but I have to say the random lyrical music interludes in some episodes are what I'm really citing. Much of the background music is decent but not memorable.

Invader Zim has a good soundtrack...at least I believe so.

Heat Guy J has a freakin' great soundtrack, as does Last Exile.

Need to catch an episode of this at some point, although knowing me I probably never will.

Yeah, it definately fit although I can't remember how much I liked it.
