Any chance anyone's getting this today?
I'm not even gonna start looking for it til Wednesday.
(My EB gets it in tomorrow afternoon.)
Fuck your eb.
I'll call mine, since I'm off tomorrow.
More Kingdom Hearts on the way
Tetsuya Nomura confirms he already has new ideas for the next installment; more games from series producer to be unveiled at E3 and TGS.
Though Kingdom Hearts II has just about wrapped up its journey onto North American shelves, it won't be the end of the action role-playing series. A day after Square Enix held its Kingdom Hearts II launch party in Los Angeles, producer Tetsuya Nomura took some time to talk about the future of the franchise with Famitsu.com. There, he revealed that he already has some new ideas for the series.
Nomura is thinking of a new installation that won't be a numbered sequel or something that takes place between two games the way that Chain of Memories (Game Boy Advance) did. If fans of the series find that a bit confusing, they have nothing to worry about, because they're not alone.
"It's difficult to explain it. I'm thinking about how to talk about it [without giving things away], which means that there will be some twists to it. Up until now, the series followed along a [straight] time line, going from Kingdom Hearts to Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. But the idea I have right now doesn't follow that flow," Nomura told Famitsu.com. "However, as long as it inherits the Kingdom Hearts title, it needs to have some connection [to previous installments] in terms of storyline, so it won't be too distant from the other titles. In any case, this is still at a conceptual phase, where I'm thinking about what I want to do."
Famitsu.com also asked Nomura whether the next installment's story will take place after the ending in Kingdom Hearts II. However, Nomura only smiled, neither confirming nor denying it.
Nomura is currently at work on multiple titles, and he revealed that there will be more announcements at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo and Tokyo Game Show. Square Enix is planning a big event for the E3 announcement in particular, and the company will be holding a surprise ceremony during the expo.
Kingdom Hearts, rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, is scheduled to be available in stores tomorrow for $49.99 on the PlayStation 2. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage or come back later this week for a full review.
Kingdom Hearts..........is.........LIGHT!!!!
My stores said Fuck you, wednesday.
Word, and I'll probably rent this to see how well the voices fared in the US game.Quote:

I'm lol'ng at you, Mr LOL BITCH TOMORROW KEK.
Don't laugh yet. A random GameFAQs thread tipped me off to an indy store that has copies in...three blocks away from my apartment.
I hope you get robbed.
If it was five blocks away, I would.

Gamespot is doing some ridiculous live video review later today, and apparently no one at IGN is aware this came out.
best buy had the hard cover 26 dollar strategy guide, for you hardcore peeps
Strategy guides make you hardcore? Or Hard cover.. makes.. you hardcore.
I'll be picking this up thrusday or friday anyway, so I'm in no big rush for stores to figure their shit out.
Same.
What's in the hardcover strategy guide? It's not just art and a soundtrack, is it?
lol, I noticed the IGN slip up as well. I expected a full blown cover page for this like they did with Halo 2. Oh well, shi-damn.Quote:

Just got back from the import place, got this and Phoenix Wright.
Loving it so far. Most of the battle so far haven't used the Reaction stuff, but the one that relied on it was pretty hot.
Oh, it gets much better than that Dusk fight.
I want to stab my face playing the Roxas beginning again
I like this beginning much better than KH1. I kinda got attached to him.
Don't forget you can skip cutscenes.Quote:

I'm impressed IGN had the balls to call out one of Square's big name releases. Every other review I've read glosses over gameplay problems.Quote:

I don't know about you guys, but now I want it more. The thing holding me back is that I passed on KH1 (due to the camera) and don't know any background to the story.Quote:

Don't get me wrong there is nothing at all complex about either games, but still.
Except Namco and Capcom, well more Capcom than Namco, have characters worth cameoing. Kingdom Hearts would have sold 10 copies if Square's name wasn't on the box. You guys should all go buy all the fabulous SaGa games while you're at it.Quote:

Play on Proud mode. It makes it easier to unlock stuff, and maybe you won't complain about it being too easy.
PS. Sephiroth is a bastard, a BASTARD.
Also, Namco X Capcom had really cool cameos, and really cool battles but the levels (especially in the end) dragged on for motherfucking EVER. I still thought it was an awesome game though, and would love to see it come to US PSP.
For those looking to save a few bucks on buying the game:
1. Some locations of Fry's Electronics may have it for 29.99 USD this week, but perhaps you'd rather just print out a page of the ad, and try to price match at Best Buy or Circuit City.
2. CompUSA may have this for 39.99 USD this week, but that looks to be regional as well.
3. Circuit City will have the game for 39.99 USD from 4/2 to 4/8, so you can either wait a few days, or buy it now and then present your receipt and next week's ad to be refunded 110% of the difference thanks to their Price Guarantee policy (just be sure to do so next week, with the lower price in effect).
Cheers.
I hated on the first one for the longest time until I actually played some of it. It's a slick game, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's the style but that shit was way too hard for me, I couldn't beat the Cerberus.
I gave IGN's mom a surprisingly negative review.Quote:

That IGN review has basically sold me on the game. Easier combat, better control? I'm there!
I like how the review pretends the first game was any different.
Maybe their copy was mislabeled God of War 2.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. OMG IT HAS STREAMLINED COMBAT AND A BETTER CAMERA?! FUCK YOU POINTS KNOCKED OFF!
I didn't play the first, but I'm playing KH2...and it's pretty blah. Production values are awesome. Some of the music is great. But when it comes to actually playing, it's suuuuuuuuuch a bore. The combat is retardedly easy and the game is almost as linear as a rail shooter (but a lot less exciting).
EDIT: Oh yes, I made a desktop for you guys.

Play it on Proud. It's not that easy.
Then again...I don't play games for a living.

Maybe skills obtained later on break the game. I dunno. But you'd still have to use them.
Not every game is Ninja Gaiden.

I guess only Chux and Korly can answer this, but, don't you guys find the game way lamer in English? I guess you expect that with every Jap game crossing over in English, but I think it lost a lot of its charm when it lost its original language. Also, I'm getting annoyed at the NTSC U/C switching O for X and X for O in J.
I agree...comprehension is lame.
Me and Korly made up off the wall stories for what the fuck was going on. As for the x to o, that is bugging me, but only because I got so used to it, and Metal Gear is that way too.
In general, developers should get their shit together and standardize which buttons do what standard actions throughout genres. Every vaguely action-oriented game has a jump button and a basic attack button, and they should be the same for each one. Even better, let me pick.
If it makes you happy, I understood 98% of everything just fine. The flash and flare in the character movements and dialogue just felt lost in translation. That's all.Quote:

That's what I meant, in Metal Gear O is confirm.Quote:

Playing Proud Mode right away, huh? It can get annoying from time to time. It's more like Normal with longer random Dusk fights then real difficulty. By the numbers stuff. Anyway, it's my 2nd playthrough and I'm a little further than where you are. I think you'll like the game less if you play it on Hard right away (even though its not really that bad).
Obviously, I don't know what Normal is like, but for a while, two hits from the fat guys were enough to kill me. You really can't absorb damage in Proud, at least not yet.
That guy that runs the Struggle battle sounds stupid.
Started the game on Proud like most suggested. The game starts out soo sloow, just like the first one. But all of a sudden shit gets wrecked and you're fighting a fucking sick boss battle (The first one after getting your keyblade for the second time) I lost to him the first time. I'm still getting used to "reaction." But seriously, if you play on proud, you can expect a challenge. I died against the first real enemy of the game.
Cipher? Always thought it was see-fur.
GOD DAMN YOU CIPHER
I thought they say Say Fur.
Been playing the shit out of it... just got past the part where the shit hit the fan in Hollow Bastion and now I'm off to revisit all the worlds. So far I like it... but dammit, give me some freaking answers to all the questions... all this little tease shit is BS.
You want answers?

Haha, cool. Mista burg, where you at?
Just started Halloween Town, and Twilight Town opened back up.
Not a single one of these has ever even elicited a chuckle from me. They're just not funny at all. Like, not even a little. Just stupid and annoying.Quote:

Look, PA comics aren't funny, they're just a little wittier than *most* of the webcomics out there. That's all. And nice on the Halloween Town, burg, it's a lot better than in the first game.
You guys don't like PA? Damn, I think they're fucking genius. Guess I'm the odd one out. That KH comic made me cry inside.
Oh come on. Penny Arcade is funny like once every three weeks, but when it is funny, it's damn funny.
Like this one.

I am having some mixed reactions to this game so far. I think its a very well made game, and the play mechanics are much improved over the first game. However, it just doesn't feel like their is enough for me, the player of the game, to do. I am about 5 hours into the game so far, I just finished Hollow Bastion and Beasts Castle and I am starting on Mulan's world. (I don't think those are spoilers) Up to this point in the game, it just feels like I haven't been doing anything. It seems like I spend more time watching cut scenes in this game than I do fighting the Heartless. So far, its easily 2 cutscenes to every ten seconds of killing heartless. Plus, when I do get to fight the heartless, more often than not, I have to see a stupid screen that tells me to "Defeat all the enemies".......and I am like "NO SHIT!". Add on top of all this, the hideously BORING beginning of the game (it took me 3 hours to get to use Sora, Donald and Goofy), and I am leaning more towards IGN's score of 7.6 than the 9's this game has been getting.
Therefore, I like the first Kingdom Hearts better at this moment. I have a feeling this game will end up getting better though. Does anybody else think this game has more cinema than gameplay, or is it just me?
Eh. KH had the same kind of beginning. It wasn't as long, but it was a lot more shitty.
Having gone through almost every Disney world for the first time, the cutscenes are still heavy, but the worlds get a lot better. Mulan's and Beast's levels are two of the worst. Also...when you have to retrace your path through a world, a lot of the rooms that had cutscenes now have enemies, so business picks up.
Yeah, the cutscene to fight ratio is pretty par for the course against the first one. Personally I don't mind them, but why, WHY could they not bother to include the Japanese voice tracks as well? Haley Joel Osment is not fit for the role anymore, and a lot of times the character gestures don't fit the tone of voice at all.
Osment is fantastic as Sora. Hearing anyone else would be wrong. Why would you want a Japanese track of a game based laregly on American characters?
Aeris and Cid are the only two voices that make me want to drink bleach, so far. Everyone else is passable to amazing - Roxas, Axel, and DiZ especially so. And the Disney voices are pretty good, even when they're not done by the original characters.
This is not funny.Quote:

Proud Mode doesn't have more enemies (or actually, it doesn't seem to have any more enemies than it should) but it will seem like it since they kill you with shocking regularity early on.Quote:

I would say yes. Either certain battles have more enemies or just more health per. foe, but they sure as heck feel longer.Quote:

It had it's moments, but in general I didn't like this game nearly as much as the first. Sure there were more worlds, but boy did they start to get old later on. Some of the boss battles were cool, and on the flip side, some were ridiculously frustrating in their setup (I'm looking at you Luxord battle).
And the story... for the love of god, next time how bout we make it a little less convoluted? I think I'd get into it a bit more if they focused the story and development on a couple main bad guys... not the whole fucking organization and it's 8 or however many members. Cut those members down to 1-2 and give me a reason to care if I'm fighting them or not. And I still don't get the whole fucking shit with nobodies and nobodies that are normal and such and such. All in all, it could have been great, but it's just mediocre.
This is not a mediocre game. Unless the last half is the worst thing I've ever played.
I don't have any serious preference, but the script was made with japanese speaking in mind, and it just irritates me to see all this gesticulating with off-sync english. I'm not bugging the fuck out about it, I'm just saying an option to turn the japanese dialog on would have been nice.Quote:

Those things aren't cheap(relatively yes, but not when you're trying to get equipment. The prize for the first tournament should help, though). And could the other story characters attack more than once a minute?Quote:

Is there any point to keeping Guard on? I'm on Proud, and haven't used it at all, because it's too hard to time with all the enemies coming at you, you can't cancel into it, and it doesn't seem to give any real advantage. It just bounces off, and the enemies continue their attacks. The horsemen and the cars suck. Still I've been able to get through most of the enemies without using summons or drives. I had to remember to use the drive in order to level it up.
