Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition DVD

Has anyone picked this up? Dawn of the Dead (the original) is one of the greatest zombie movies ever made, and this set is easily the best I've ever seen for any horror movie. Anchor Bay did an amazing job with the restorations and transfers, and the extras are all interesting at the very least, and most are essential for fans.

Also, what's your favorite version of the film? Even though I enjoy the extended and European versions, I still have to go with the original theatrical cut for the overall best.

I've only seen the theatrical cut, so I can't comment on which version is my favorite. I'll have to rent this to see the differences. The original is a great flick, however.

Man, 4 discs...that's the royal treatment.

The original was a great movie, a good action film horror film, and at times a comedy film. If it was done with todays technology it probably would appeal to a lot of people other then the zombie film fans.

The remake was quite meh compared to the original.

Agreed, I prefer the original as well.

The first three discs are the three different cuts of the film, and each one has a different commentary and some extras. The fourth disc is basically just two long documentaries with a TON of information, along with a couple fluff extras.

It also comes with a comic book.

Basically, it's like the recent Alien DVDs, only quite a bit spiffier. Anchor Bay are quickly becoming one of my favorite companies due to releases like this.

I meant the exact same film, same story, same play of scenes and so on. I liked the dumb slow zombies from the original rather then the super fast zombies in the new one. Exactly how would an old fat lady become fast just because she became a zombie?

Yeah, especially since Anchor Bay does this a lot with really obscure or cult movies. I've seen them give all sorts of weird flicks deluxe special editions. They even did a 3-disc SE for that super-shitty Dario Argento movie Susperia.

Yeah, but that ridiculous orange-red blood and latex bite wounds just wouldn't be the same.

The two documentaries on disc 4 are very interesting. There is also a video of some of the actors walking through the mall in 2002 I think it was, pretty neat stuff.
