I love original Dawn film. Excellent zombie film, which I believe is the best in the trilogy, and it also got some social commentary going along with scares and gore. Sure the make up fx are not on the level of today technology, and blue zombie make up is silly, but it is still an instant classic. Hell, it had more zombie carnage than many today zombie films.
I am not sure if I would have been happy if this year remake of Dawn, was scene to sceen remake of the original, but I believe that if it was Romero who would be responsible for the remake, it could have been done good. I hated the remake after intial viewing this Spring, but after re-watching the uncut version few weeks ago, I definately warmed up to the film. I still not sold on the fast running zombies, and I still think alot of the characters in the new version were throw away, but overal it was a decent movie. As RE2 showed us, a better and superior zombie movie.
I do like Day of the Dead, and the fx work in it, was the best in the trilogy. In Day, zombies evolved from their Dawn day, and seem to be more ferocious and dangerous than before. In the scenes in the tunnels, when they trying to catch few zombies for testing, those things moving noticebly faster than before, and the power they struggle and attack is much more visible. Storyline might be yet another retreat to the group of lonely survivors surrounded by zombie hordes, and dealing with power struggle and hate bettween military and scienties. But I still liked it quite a bit.
Am I the only person who thinks that Night of the Living Dead is the best of the current trilogy?
It was basically similar to the movie we got, but everything was beefed up. Originally, the scientists lived in an above the ground fortress surrounded by electric fences, and the army guys lived underground. The training of the zombies hinted at with Bub was vastly acclerated...they actually had a small army of trained zombies (Bub was still one of them), with the intention of using them as soliders eventually in an attempt to take back the Earth. I think the zombies were supposed to be armed and trained not to shoot or attack anything that was wearing a certain "saftey" color (which the humans damn well made sure to wear around them). The ending was supposed to be a lot more brutal as well.Quote:

Now, due to the success of the Dawn remake, Romero's got backing to make a 4th dead movie, which he's calling Land of the Dead. It's currently in pre-production and is due to be released in 2005. Not sure if he's releasing it unrated (unlikely) or with in R rating with a super-gory unrated DVD to follow (more than likely).
No. It's definitely the most intense of the three, and for me the most interesting.Quote:

On a similar note, has anyone gotten the new 2-disc set for Zombi 2, aka Zombie? I have the old Anchor Bay DVD with the awful transfer (I've seen Realplayer files with less artifacts) and although I enjoy some parts of the movie, most of it is beyond dull.
Zombi 2? I keep hearing about the zombie vs. shark battle in that one.
