Awesome news. I need to step it up and get through the first Hurricane Pack. I stopped after I beat the regular game twice (regular and master ninja tourney playthroughs).

I'm sure they'll die to "run up the wall and slam down on the ground" like every other enemy in the game.

It's HARD!

The most noticable change is that now you get an unlimited supply of projectile weapons so you can use them at your liesure. But then, that doesn't matter because these weapons are useless against almost everything.

You can still choose several outfits like in the other HPs, but there are no new outfits.

You start with a level 2 dragon sword, a level 1 flail, a level 1 dabilahro and a level 2 Lunar. You get no items, you have to earn them all, but there is a Talisman of Rebirth in the tower where the 50th scarab was. There's no ghost fish in the tower, luckily. You have to find an Art of Fire Wheels again too.

All of the prices in the store have been changed, and Elixers cost a whopping 1500 a pop now.

Well, the first phase of HP2 is the easy part, you just work your way up through the tower fighting easy enemies (including new, windmill shuriken wielding ninja) and trying to get money and a few items. After that you have to go through the portal, which takes you through to the new stage, and this is where the new game starts.

As soon as you get to the new stage, you see Rachel, and she kicks a few monsters' asses, her boobs jiggle even more than they did in the original game, and then you see her get owned by two new female fiends (similar to Alma but with their own weapons). She gets lashed with a whip and then, I shit you not, ENCASED IN CARBONITE HAN SOLO STYLE!

Now your mission is to save her. You go through fighting endless hoards of powerful enemies until you reach a boss, and then you get a save spot and a muramasa statue, and then you continue your journey. I got to General Fatty and he kicked the shit out of me, his grab is much better now and he is even harder than he used to be.

There is a new armored Military now, so they are now immune to incendiaries, and they fire rockets out like machine guns now.

Anyway, this is as far as I got... more later. I hope that the guys who do the tournament in Tokyo this week are good, because if they're faggots, they'll definitely get exposed.

God... I don't know if this is even possible. In Phase 4, you have to fight about 6 waves of assorted demons (cat women, new demons, powered up old demons, big giants, little beetles, etc. etc.), then you fight Doku, who now has all new ninja sidekicks, AND THEN you fight Underworld Boss w/ cat women, AND ALL WITH NO SAVE! I don't know if Underworld Boss is it either.

On top of that, there's this gay shit where you get presented with two chests after fighting Doku (and a few other hard bosses) and in one chest is PROBABLY a good item, and in the other chest is GHOST FISH! But if you pick one chest, the other chest disappears!

Each time I've tried to chests, I've gotten ghost fish, so for all I know, it could just be mind games, and they could ALL be ghost fish!

Even worse, you have a 4 elixer limit now, and a 2 great spirit elixer limit! This shit is a BITCH! But I really want to see the new bosses, GOD.

:( Seriously, not having a save after like 20 good minutes of difficult fighting is just brutal.

This has to be the hardest mod/game of the year. Jeez.

I don't think I'll be playing this too much, the frustration isn't worth it, (but I want to see the new bosses also).

indeed, i was nailed within seconds. so is this HP2 like a continuation of the story of some sort, i'm really not following with this game.

btw, i just dont get it, i finished Shinobi on the PS2 twice, and shinobi is considered to be one of the hardest games, yet i cannot seem to get anywhere in Ninja Gaiden! i managed to reach the hotair ballon part(zeplin or whatever they call it) and gave up! :wtf:

belive it or not, i have only played Master Tournament 1 and 2 once! as a matter of fact, i dont see whats so different about them. So are the Master Tournaments like an online battle where you upload your scores and stuff?

Word, the first 2 stages are the hardest, because you don't have that many abilities, but once you power up the sword to level 2, you're good for the rest of the game pretty much. If you're not, it's really just a matter of practice and staying with it, it's like, everybody has a pattern, but you just have to figure it out, memorize everyone's attacks.

My favorite thing about the original game was how after it became easy, doing the timed events. It was so challenging and enjoyable, trying to beat enemies under time. You really felt like a ninja, planning out a methodical way of killing your enemies, executing it in flawless fashion. You feel like a fucking champion.

One example is the timed even in the Zepplin, right before Fatty (Dynamo). Everyone says this is a hard one, but it's so rewarding to look at. First, you kill 3 enemies on the floor, then you have to run up to the top floor using wall jumps and other acrobatics and dispatch 2 more enemies. If you do it, it's just REWARDING!

Anyway, even *I* have been somewhat discouraged by HP2, it's just so god damned hard... I'll get back to it, but I wish that they would release one with regular rules, 10 elixers and 5 megalixers, just because I don't think I should have to work THAT hard to see the new bosses :\

Here is the breakdown -

MNT 1 - Exact same game as the offline mode, but you upload your scores online.

MNT 2 - Several changes all around in terms of item placement, but all the same stages. Every enemy is powered up, some enemies were removed, there are 2 completely new monsters, and a lot of old monsters and enemies got new attacks, became invulnerable to old techniques, received cosmetic changes. Hayabusa got a new weapon, and two new outfits. He recieved a new Boujutsu called Intercept which dramatically sped up the game. It like the opposite of a counter, closer to a Soul Calibur 2 Guard Impact or an SF3 Parry. Many Bosses were upgraged. Items all way more expensive in the store.

my only grip with NG is that i feel that the character is slower than the enmies, speciall on how he reacts to certain commands, maybe i'm just used to Hotsuma super speed in shinobi.

Finally got past Phase 4! I was sort of discouraged, so it has been an on and off kind of thing.

Guess what my reward is? Now I have to fight several of THESE THINGS at a time!

DUDE WHAT THE FUCK! First of all, these guys are each as strong as Doku, and they have about 5 different sword swings, on top of that, they have kicks and shoulder charges. They'd be AWESOME characters to use in their own right, that's how stacked their attack list is.

But see, that's not the bad part. The bad part is that when you do enough damage to them, rather than dying, they just get pissed off and go http://projectk.versuscity.net/emot-ssj.gif and turn ALL BLACK! They double in speed and power, and they gain all new attacks. They were already extremely formidable before this, but now they have both spread fireballs, and a floating spirit bomb that lands on the ground and literally makes where you step hot lava. The lighting effects become so bright that they obscure the screen, and when there's more than one of them on screen, you're dead. Oh yeah, they also have essence charge attacks... but with no charge, so they can unleash instant super combos on you any time they want.

I'm sure I'll beat phase 5 soon enough though...

er wait, HP2 is just one giant challenge level, or is it like hp1 with a revamped game?

Actually, these guys fell pretty quickly to the (of all weapons) Dark Dragon Blade. I just kept intercepting like a madman used that brief moment of invincibility to lay into them with a Y charge attack. They seem to fall into the arena at timed intervals so if you take them down quickly you don't need to worry about pool of lava appearing while your fighting one of them.

Just stay in their face, forget about jumping and go toe to toe with them. Intercept, counterattack, wait for them to intercept you, intercept, counterattack. This also works when they rage out, but the timing is trickier.
I actually had more problems with [echo effect]THE BIG NIGGAZ!!!™"[/echo effect] than I did with these guys.

There only seems to be five to six them but they go down pretty fast if you've mastered the intercept. The evolved form of Alma you fight right after on the other hand. :yuck:

Thanks for the tip about the DDB, were it not for that tip, I wouldn't have been able to beat the HP2.

Anyway, allow me to return the favor for Super Alma.

What did I was equip Art of Inferno and buy 3 devil elixers. You might not even need these. As soon as the fight starts, charge her with a flying swallow, after that, try to get her minions into the air combo as fast as possible, as that will make you relatively invincible (totally invincible to all of her projectile attacks, wall running also serves this purpose) Try to get into a position where you can spam flying swallows against her hard. If you hit her with a flying swallow in the air, she'll go down hard and have to gasp for air. At that point, your tactic is to hit her with the standard Izuna combo. She'll take massive damage, and then you have to repeat it. Killing minions also serves to replenish your health. But you actually don't even have to focus on them.

If you get into a pickle, this is when you whip out an Inferno art. If you hit her with hit, she'll go down much in the same fashion as if you hit her with a flying swallow, allowing you to follow up with an Izuna combo.

This is also the same technique that she fell to in every iteration of the original game. She's only changed in the sense that she spams the smack you up/slam you down more. You should be able to beat her without even using a potion, as you'll need them all for the next boss.

The next boss is the naked whip chick.

I had a lot of trouble with her initially, but the technique that I learned to use against her is this - go for the XY and when you get into the air, XY, as much as possible. It will give you relative invincibility since you're in the air, and you'll score a great deal of hits on her and she should fall to it. Any other tactic, such as ground based combat or ninpo WILL NOT WORK. She's extremely agile and will dodge everything.

Once you win, you get the shittiest ending ever.

Okay I'm owning Alma's ass now (thanks), but that blue bitch with the whip. Sheezuz!!!

Intercepting her attacks is hard as all hell and getting into the air is a chore because she keeps smacking me back down. I've found that you can nail her pretty hard with a flying swallow when you dodge her tarzan attack as she is breifly stunned when she misses. You can also nail her when goes all M. Bision on you, but that's a little harder because you have to be in the air the moment you see her charge up because that slide come out damn fast.

I'm gonna give this a rest and come back later.

EDIT: You know I just realized that I've put more time into this game than almost any other game I own outside of RPGs. Even before the Hurricane Packs, I must have played through the original at least a dozen or more times. Games these days rarely, if ever, have that much replay value once you beat them. More proof that Itagaki is indeed a creative genius (all you haters can just shut up right now).

After reading this thread, I'm actually scared to play this now. :blank:

Word man! I'm glad you mentioned this, because after being the HP2, I went into options to admire my final play time, and it was a whopping 148 hours.
