If you buy from them it may be in your best interest to double check your cc statement.Quote:

That's sleazy on EB's part...what a third-rate scam. Still, it looks like they have all their bases covered legally.
I believe that EB is not above this.
They got me on this as well, however I caught it in time and got my money back.
Maybe you guys should read more.
It says RIGHT ON the reserveation rewards site that EB will transfer all your info, INCLUDING credit card number, in exchange for the 10 dollars off.
It also says that you get it for free for 30 days, and if you don't cancel they will charge you 9 dollars a month and just assume you want to keep it. This is why I didn't sign up for the 10 dollars off, because this information was made clear as day, and it's not EB's fault none of you read the disclaimer.
In my knowledge, the only thing this works on is the 10 dollar rebate, which is made very clear what is going on. I just think the guy was an idiot for not reading enough, and just thinking he was getting 10 free dollars.Quote:

People should read stuff before they decide to submit ALL OF THEIR INFORMATION to 3rd parties they know nothing about.
I did read, canceled my order on their site and I also CALLED the company to confirm the cancel well before my 30 days were up.
They however decided to bill me for 3 months anyway...
They are a scam...
PS. I never got my 10 off from ebgames either...
Well, that's what you get when you submit every bit of your personal information, blindly I might add, and then don't keep track of your credit card bills.Quote:

I signed up NOT BLINDLY and knew exactly what was happening with my bills thank you very much.Quote:

Stop acting like you know every thing about the situation or how well people balance a checkbook.
Roufuss, could you BE more pretentious, shit. I've steered clear of EB's site for anything but can't-miss bargains, and this just makes me all the more wary of using their site for purchases. I'd rather not run the risk of being scammed at all than save a small amount of money in the short term.
Wait a minute - EB pulls a sleazy scam and it's other people's fault? Sorry, that's shitty branding if people are now supposed to see your logo, look at your website and instantly assume they'll be fleeced. As a company, it's their responsibility to build trust with their consumers. I think it's safe to say paying $9 a month to get $10 off and have your credit card info sent all over isn't an above-board deal, and the fact that they put it in the internet equivalent of fine print doesn't get them off the hook for being dickheads.Quote:

James
Seriously, who reads fine print?
It may be a downfall but good companies don't put stupid important shit in the fine print. They tell you straight up.
James, my mom's getting Entertainment Weekly for an eternity due to that shit, as they don't give you a way to reliably cancel it. Well, unless you don't mind playing phone tag for hours.
I got suckered into doing that with Best Buy, I never got my magazines and I nearly forgot to cancel.Quote:

Go on their website like I did. Took all of 3 minutes to do.Quote:

It's a subscription isn't it? Punch in that info and cancel.

log in and it lets you cancel.
All EB is, is the middle man. They have no control over what Reward Reservations or whatver they are called does once they give them the info, that you tell them they can send.Quote:

After that, EB isn't libel for ANYTHING, nor is this their fault in any way. They are merely an affilate, nothing more, nothing less. Yes, maybe they should rethink their partnership, but the money probably helps them in a big way. No one is forcing you to sign up for the 10 dollar coupon, and, once again, EB has nothing to do with it once they hand over their info.
And for the people who don't read the fine print.... maybe I'm just cautious and paranoid of this happening, but I have problems sending my credit card information ANYWHERE to a site I know absoultely nothing about or know what they will be doing with it. It boggles my mind that people willingly ship their information off in exchange for a 10 dollar coupon, without doing any sort of research.
They accept card numbers from people who are only interested in the sales purchase of a game and they want their money going only towards that purchase, but if they fail to mention any additional fees without making proper announcements (like sticking it in the fine print), then they're gonna have another problem to deal with.
I say middleman or not, for handing over your info to be further manipulated makes them just as guilty.
Rumpy, thanks for that link.
After you buy a game, there is an info box that says something along the lines of "Click here to learn how to get a 10 dollar coupon good off your next purchase". It's not like I buy a game and EB just sends away all my credit card info.Quote:

Now, if what happened to JMET where Reservation Rewards didn't cancel after he called them, well, that's not EB's fault at all since they don't have any part of that company. For people to say "Wow, EB is so evil for doing this", I don't really see WHY, as this is just a partnership (or affilate) and people shouldn't judge EB based on what Reservation Rewards does.
I see.Quote:
