He also introduced me to GG.
I remember Bahn was whoring his brand new forums over at the SRK art boards in 1999 or 2000. I joined up then.
Gamefan -> GameGo -> TNL
Fighter-X and Lobo
GG boards died, so I migrated here.
ECM told me about GG when I bothered to hunt him down in #shmups one day.
Jeremy told me about this.
Forgot to put in my reason, clicked on a random review for Tekken 3.

asked some people in a nintento or sega chatroom on aol whether or not they use to read gamefan and if they had ever gone in the gamefan chatroom (gf_tavern). some dude who went by Musashi or something then told me that most of those guys migrated over to GameGo. I followed. GameGo died, and everyone came over here.
Tain.
GameGo migration.

I've got one that's a bit different.
Zophar's Domain had a news blurb about GameGO! I was wondering what had happened to GameFan, so I popped in and joined the boards when they opened. Then, the infamous GameGO! cancellation happened, and I came here.

That's hilarious.Quote:

Likewise with the GameGo. I showed up there late when the boards were closing down. But I remembered following a link once to here, so I came back checked it out and liked what I saw.
Im kinda curious about how a lot of the newer guys got here too. I know all of the 1000+ posters were migratory from GG, but I wonder if a lot of the others just stumble in here by accident like Earthwolf?
Unless Nick has someone out there actively pimping out the site.

it was kind fo 2 part, was playing worms on the dc when i ran into ecm, asked him what happened to gamefan, he kicked me to gamego, which i promptly forgot about till i was playing pso and some guy kicked me to gamefaqs,a nd soemone's sig mentioned gamego, i lurked till gamego imploded and then signed up when there was sometopic on anime and nobody mentioned giant robo, and i felt compelled to leap into the fray.
tell that rat bastard to pop in once and a while :pQuote:

I was on the Extended Play and later X-Play boards, then my friend Gigap0wer got me onto the neo-geo.com boards, then we realized those sucked so I guess he found TNL somewhere because he's the one who showed me the way here.
I thought so, too.Quote:

I guarantee soundwave has the best story of us all.
YAWA brought me here, blame him
Errrrrr.... This isn't my TNL account.
Anyone want to have sex with me???
dave- I am never hanging out at your house again... except to play your gf's sims2. You suck suck suck suck. SUCK?
Boomsta and Kaneda kept linking me so I joined. yah... I was that bored.
There we goQuote:

Well this is somthing that some folks may be unwilling to admit, but I started out as a lurker.Quote:

Tried post there, but that didn't go too well. Long story. Don't bother.
I took a long hiatus at that point, and when I finally regained a reliable connection, GG! had relocated. And so I resumed my lurker status until, like last time, something sparked my interest enough to get a login. And the rest is history(that I sure you couldn't care less about).
Thanks to Nextlevel I was lucky enough to meet ShaperMc at a local gaming spot, and that help tear down so walls that I thought existed between newcomers and vets. alike. But, since then we havn't spoken much...
No worries though; college keeps me busy, and meanwhile, I'm sure he's getting along with that life he told me so much about.
I can't really remember. I mean, I used to frequent #GF_Tavern a long time ago, but that was pre-GameGo, as far as I can remember, and I had absolutely no involvement with GG or the boards. I'm inclined to say it was either Wilykat or Reno that brought me here.
i googled for a solution to a networking problem with red alert 2, and i found another guy with the same problem i had (http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/s...218#post782218)
. I had to sign up in order to reply, and from there i found other interesting discussions.
I lurked here ever since the GG boards closed.
Guess I've been here longer then you guys thought.
Discovered the GG boards right as they died, and then came here.
Why can't other noobs join and then help another board user out with a problem within a few posts of joining? I hadn't noticed you until now, burky, but welcome to TNL.Quote:

At that point, I had almost zero interest in message boards, but shortly after the forum went up, I started lurking and eventually joined. (Whatever happened to Mike3 and AnimeMiXX anyway?)
I visited TNL once or twice before the GG boards went down for the last time, but I didn't like it much. I reluctantly joined when everyone else started coming here, but it took me a while to take to this place. No matter what anyone says, the boards have gotten progressively better ever since. They really sucked in 2001, no offense to anyone involved. It was just a different mindset.
I got roped in cause bahn needed some work done on the site (referred by reno), since then I haven't been able to escape its icy clutches.
Since theres all this talk about GG, where the hell has ECM been hiding?
(ECM is omfgninjas.)
Bahn.

Actually, ECM did sign up in 2002 under the name "The Real ECM" (we had an impostor), but he never did much. Then we got new forum software and everyone had to reregister.
TNL owes a lot to both Haohmaru and ECM, and I'm grateful to both.
I can remember how they were hiding everything before the show went under.Quote:

No actually it was Sphere79 who mentioned it to me when we were talking about GameFan..
Yeah, they made for some fine discussions, despite their heavy sigs. Then, poof, gone.Quote:

Kano referred me to TNL when we were working for 411 about two years ago. He said "this is the best video game forum out there" or something like that. As usual, Kano was right.
He also tried to get me involved in TNL chat. He had me go in, and when people started asking me who I was, Kano said "tell them you're Zidane". Then the conversation deteriorated to animal sex. I haven't been in TNL chat since.

I was pointed here by Kidnemo.
I learned of gamego via tracer, and then the migration happened.
He seems to have disappeared, too.Quote:

I used to go by the name Nigel-The-Landstalker
Gamefan -> GameGo -> TNL
Though I was a lurker at GF and caught GG right at the end of it's short life.
He's doing his comet 9 comic/message board, but he pretty much stopped posting here (don't think he lurks much either).Quote:

I'm pretty sure that's how it went. That is also a progression over many many many years. I'm pretty sure one of the people I've met over the years on message boards pointed me in the direction of TNL, and I've been lurking ever since. Though I have started to post more recently.
It was either Diffusionx or K3V that told me about this place, but I don't remember for sure.
Brand, what was your name on SW?
I was BrAnDX105, I was one of the original mods there believe it or not. Then I took a long haitus from there.
I actually had the link to the site on my computer at home, and man is that place in shambles! No posts since like late 2003, and most of the graphics are missing for the boards................man that was a long time ago.
Ah, yes, I remember you there. I'll always remember the adventures towards even getting the site up.
Oh yah, absolutly. Me and a bunch of people migrated after our Dreamcast ANT board got taken down off of AOL. Because of that we tryed to set up Sega Warlords, and that in itself was a world of headaches! I blame EZBoards for all of the problems with that site, they are a bunch of rat bastards I tell yah!Quote:

Yeah, he's doing the Comet 7 thing. From convos on AIM he says that he still plays a ton of games but hesitates on new releases and high price tags so there aren't many topics on TNL to post about with him not playing new releases.Quote:

I think I've had my fill of message boards by now, but here I am.
