We're getting these in the store sometime soon. Has anyone heard about HP iPods at all? I was told that these things were just distributed by HP but made by Apple, though this leaves me very skeptical.
Yeah, that's exactly what it is. It's an apple iPod distributed by HP. The only major differences would probably be the cost (lol apple :chick: ) and the fact that the HP ones have their logo embossed on the metal finish of the player.

I believe the major thing Apple is getting from HP is that iTunes is now preloaded on all HP computers. This is essential for Apple to snag some of the multimedia player shares from Windows Media Player.Quote:

This is an excellent point. It also helps that HP has name recognition amongst PC users and an iPod would probably be part of a package deal with teh sale of each new system. I hear, however, that an HP iPod will be the same price as the Apple one :\Quote:

The way that works is someone with a PC gets an iPod. It works with the PC, but then they see how well it works with a Mac. Then they see iLife. Then they have an iBook. :)
Yeah, actually I'm wondering what HP gets out of this deal. Do they make a cut of the Ipod by HP profits?
Printers bundled with Macs. Blow away Epson and everyone else possible.
Plus, it's a smart move in case Apple starts picking up market share.
I also think HP has wider/deeper distribution channels. They can get iPods to places Apple can't.
