Well folks I'm back from Atlanta. While at ProgPowerUSA 5 this year I got a discount card to get 100 t-shirts of concert quality at a pretty good price. I'm thinking that if we can get together a good one or two color design I can offer everyone on TNL a nice tshirt for around 10 to 13 bucks plus shipping (basic 3.50 Priority).
This is where you come in.
I'm going to let the people of TNL come up with what THEY want on THEIR T-shirts. People can email me their ideas, the best ones will voted on, and if I can get a 100 people to say they want one the shirts will go into production.
The winner will get the satisfaction of knowing that everyone is wearing something they made plus one or two free t-shirts. Also, depending on how well and fast this goes I may do it a second time. If a second T-shirt is made and things go well enough this time, there is a good chance the second T-shirt contest winner may also get payed. I am sorry however that I can not offer to pay anyone for this T-shirt run. If things go wrong I could take a loss and not be able to pay you. I would really hate to do that to anyone on TNL.
Things about the image.
Files must be 300dpi at the actual size. This means that if you want your graphic to be 12 inches wide, you will need a file that is at least 3600 pixels wide to start with. If you are creating your graphics in Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, or other vector-based software, then you just need to set your document size to the size you want your graphic to be.
A 300dpi flattened TIFF in RGB is the best way to send your apparel graphic. Even if you have it in a layout or vector-based program, outputting a hi-resolution TIFF will be the best way to ensure a speedy turnaround. If you are sending a vector-based EPS or PDF, make sure you convert your type to outlines to avoid missing fonts.
Some suggested sizes and to get you started.
Position Size (inches) Size
(approximate pixels for Photoshop or other paint programs)
Full Chest 12" x 12" 3600 px by 3600 px
Left Breast 4" x 4" 1200 px by 1200 px
Full Back 12" x 15" 3600 px by 4500 px
Center Chest 5" x 5" 1500 px by 1500 px
Center Front 9" x 3.5" 2700 px by 1050 px
If TNL staff gives it's blessing you can also submit TNL related designs. BUT for a TNL shirt to go into print, I would need at least 100 people to want to buy it.
I encourage those who participate to be creative and to do their best. But also please take into account that the more complex your design the more the shirt will cost. Please keep things simple. We want to keep the shirt cheap but nice for everyone on TNL.
