Eh.
Good thing I can read French.
That looks really disappointing =/
So translate, bitch.
That so does NOT work.
That is one ugly game.
Here is what the first 3D incarnation of Metal Slug will look like, created especially for the PS2....
gawd that takes too long. Forget you.
That is depressing.
Graphically I think that is very under par. However I like the perspective they are using. I was worried they would use the Neo Contra view, which I don't like.
Maybe if those character models weren't of the cartoonish, big headed crap, and looked more serious and normal, it would look interesting.
Actually, even the backgrounds look cartoonish, what the fuck is that all about.
Um, have you ever played Metal Slug before? The cartoonish look is the only thing they appeared to have gotten right.
:yuck:
Probably so that it looks more like the rest of the series, which were all non-serious cartoonishness with big heads.Quote:

It's not super exaggerated like this looks, however. Either that, or it never bothered me before because the graphics didn't look like horse shit.Quote:

I didn't know N64 game development was still around, neat. Seriously, what the fuck is up with those buildings? God damn...

It reminds me of Medievil on PS1. Where's Sir Dan?
Given that SNK/Playmore turned the once-great series into shit with Metal Slug 4 & 5, I think it's safe to assume the worst.Quote:

what the fuck?
I'm about to retract my earlier statements in defense of SNK producing a 3D Metal Slug game.

Oh, bull shit. Metal Slug 3 (the real version mind you) is the best pure action game ever programmed. How many companies can claim ownership of the pinnacle of a genre? Hacks like Tecmo or Square sure as fuck can't.Quote:

This is pretty much exactly what I was expecting it to look like if it were to look bad. Its the exact style of ugly I was imagening. It really looks like PSone/N64 dated graphics, usually when someone says that its an exageration but its really not here. This better be ultra early, like the graphics have been worked on for like 2 weeks and have a 2 years ahead of them to go early.
So are Sega, Capcom, Konami, and Nintendo though. Who would make games in Japan if those that are past their no longer could?Quote:

You'll probably get the point by now.
It's nice that devs try new thi.....Yeah, I wont lie to you guys. That's fucking awful. Metal Slug was pimp just because of its awesome art style. Way to go for swiping one of the series' strongest points. :bang:Quote:

is metal slug advance out yet?
I want that MS
You do realise that those covers get progressivly more cartoony right?Quote:

True, but they still mantain a semi-realistic look in all of them, which I wish was used more often in the actual games. At least it would look better in 3D than being completely cartoony.Quote:

Yea it looks like shit...same with that other 3d King of Fighters...hopefully they are actually good games.

So yeah.....Alien Hominid...

Not to mention the fact that the MVS usually were distributed with instruction cards, pop cards and flyers that contained said promotional artwork. MS2, MSX and MS3 were all promoted with realistic or semi-realistic artwork.

I much rather have generically good than uniquely bad. Besides, I'm not talking Metal Gear Solid-esque realistic. More like the semi-realistic style used in Mega Man Legends. I just don't think big heads and fat bodies translate really well in 3D.Quote:
Yes, because it really needs to look more generic.
I wasn't sure if AES and MVS were released simultaneously back then, I thought there was a decent stagger between the two.Quote:

Judging from how those shots look I don't think a change in proportion would save it.Quote:

I figured as much. It's not like they're pushing the envelope of well-made cartoon graphics right now, anyway.Quote:

Not much really. The MVS version of the games were usually released only a month or even a few weeks before the AES, since the software is essentially the same. Only the casing and packaging is different. The software merely reacts to the hardware and makes any proper changes that it needs to.Quote:

It sure as hell is (though one could argue in MSX's favor as well). But we all need to remember something- the SNK of old that made MS3 is dead and buried. SNKP is a totally different company with totally different dev teams and should not be spoken of in the same breath.Quote:

I don't understand why they made contra: shattered soldier look like ass and keep it 2 dimensional. That's why I haven't played it much since i got it 3 years ago.
Neo Contra...just ugh.
This game makes me sad. On the inside.
Being a Contra baby, it always frustrated me that you couldn't shoot diagonally with your pistol. Maybe I'm just not l337. The games are still awesome.
Those Kingdom Heart screens are pimp.
If SNKP could get the game to look like that then maybe.......

I was always under the assumption that since they made 2D for so long, and were so stubborn to move into 3D on newer systems up until recently, that their dev teams were just really shitty from lack of experience, and they probably don't have the scratch to hire real talented 3d artists.Quote:

Doh! It's really a shame that all of these SNK games didn't get one more 2D rehash with re-drawn high res graphics. Would have been cool to see before moving into 3D land.
I can't believe I said that either. Two of my favourite series of all time. Castlevania is getting more tired than Metroid, but there's been less of them.Quote:

There's just too much else to get for me to spend 30 bucks on another castlevania rehash. For the moment.
For example, metal slug 3 for xbox and ms for gba.
Megaman Zero series is good...Quote:

OMG!! This game looks horrible! I seriously don't know how the team making this can be allowed to turn it into crap and get away with it.
I mean really... I don't.
Not only that it looks terrible, but the fact that this is not even close to representing anything that the Metal Slug series has been about for all these years.
There is zero humor, zero artistic style, zero gore, and the level design looks absolutly putrid. I was cursing SNK for making a Metal Slug 3d game when it was first announced, simply because I KNEW that SNK with their terrible powers for making terrible 3d games would ruin this series. I guess nothing changes........hmph.
Could it look any more generic? Seriously. Wow.
I have no problem with Metal Slug going 3D, but not like this. It should look and play like Maximo if they want to have any kind of chance of doing it right.
Nah, Maximo is too slow, MS needs to be more frenetic.
If anything, I guess the 3D games would more closely resemble the platform action of the NGPC MS games than the shooters.
What it needs first is more fucking action. There was WAY too much running and nowhere near enough gunnin'. Damn, that needs help badly.
I cannot believe I have just read this string of words.Quote:

They should have made it like Ratchet & Clank.Quote:

It... It could be good. Maybe.
It'll fail, then we won't have to hear of it again.
The graphics don't look that bad, especially for being early in development. As long as it retains the series run n' gun gameplay, it'll be fun. The only thing I'm afraid of is SNKP trying to broaden the gameplay by adding in mission objectives and whatnot.
This looks like Blowout 3D.
I thought MS6 was shit the first time I played it, but the more time I spend with it, the more I like it. The scoring system isn't as polished as it could be, and the 3d backgrounds look bad with the sprites, but from the third level on they throw in lots of new enemies and some creative level design. It's at least more original than 4 and 5, although I think 5 is decent enough. I just wish they would have gone out on 3.Quote:
