How do you password lock a folder in OSX? I want it to be different than my login password, as in I specify what it is for that specific folder. I know about Disk Copying it but that's a pain in the ass, the mounting and all. I just want to be able to keep a folder locked from read/write from anyone but me.
So, what can I do?

Disk Copy is the only way I know of, sorry.
No, I have three step-siblings and an older, asshole brother. They like to mess with ALL MY FILES, including school stuff. I want to lock my important ones up.
With Disk Copy, you have to wait for it to mount every single time, right? And then how do you make changes and save it, make another .dmg all over again? It's a pain in the ass.
Why not create a user just for yourself? Or if you want to protect just some files create a new user and keep the secret stuff in there.
I have a user, and it'd be a freaking pain to make another user just for one folder. It's too inconvenient. All I wanna do is make a pop-up with 'Enter your password) before the folder can be opened, or something like that.Quote:

No that I know of. I assume the reason being that it would be just as easy for someone to password-lock one of your folders, and whatever reset system that would be in place would be as easy to use for the unprivileged as it would be for the locker.Quote:

Don't know about OSX though. Independent programming is pretty prolific on mac, so I'm sure it's out there somewhere.
I'm pretty sure MS Office can password protect files and folders.
I figured it'd require the administrator password to make any changes, as with installing or changing things. Hrm. Guess I'll have to seek out some software solution, then, or find a CD-RW to just burn and hide...Quote:

Just hide all your files away in some unknown programs folder, hide them if you want, and then delete the shortcuts to most recently open files after opening your documents. They'll never find them, unless they're trying to hide something away themselves.
The alternative would be to use a memory stick thing; 128mb is well enough, unless you want movies, etc, but for work security, it should be fine
