Mario Sprite History

I totally dug it man, good show.

Side note: The jumpman/Mario sprite from the Colecovision Donkey Kong was spot on. The others in that category suck, but that ONE was just dandy.

Agreed. The original conceptual version of the game (Donkey Kong Plus) looked way better in comparison.

Great article NGM, those sprites really took me back to the good ol' days! I agree that the Mario vs Donkey Kong sprite is ugly, every pixel is basically aliased with another. At the beginning, when I saw that small Mario 3 All-Star sprite, I thought that was the NES version, and I thought to myself, damn the NES was that powerful?

BTW, Colecovision rocks. :) Ah the memories...
