Yeah, I was going to mention this. I'm focusing on the more positive aspects of what they're doing and don't wish them any specific harm, but that whole 'capitalism stuck its hand down my pants and molested me' shtick is plain retarded and lessens whatever they're going for.

Am I seeing things, or did Trebeck post twice without mentioning the evils of the Bush Administration?

Anyway, whatever statement it is that they are trying to make, eff them. Master is correct - capitalism is the best part of this country.

Believe me, no one wants another PETA. :)

I'm just a firm believer in backing your talk with action. If they wanted to make such a statement about this horrible consumer-based society of ours the evils of throwing out food and how horrible it is that it happens while people are starving in the streets, you'd think they'd try to help out said starving people instead of just themselves.

I have nothing against people who choose to do this (well, except that they're disgusting nasty freaks), it's just the outspoken ones who condem all society becase they don't share their individual beliefs.

Reminds me of religion.

<sigh> It's fine that they eat garbage, but justifying it with a self-righteous cause when they're not doing anything BUT eating garbage and saying shit is not cool. If they want to do more than eat garbage and talk shit, they should DO something...other than eat garbage.

They're saving fucking money is what they're doing. If they want to paint themselves in a better light, that's a very human thing to do. It just means they're self-righteous fuckholes who won't go beyond their own preferred world to make a difference.

Current world population: 6 billion. US Population - 294,408,764. That's a lot of people, true. But that attitude, along with apathy, doesn't help any. Pretend that for every person who says, "Forget it, there's too much trouble, there's too many needy people, and we can never solve everything," there was one person who said, "Yeah, I know, but I want to help who I can." There'd be a lot of fed homeless people.

Saying it's too difficult to help is the same as these "Freegans" not doing shit for their communities. It's justifying your lack of action. Might as well eat garbage.

I'm not asking you to put this on top of your mind. We're all human, by and by, and most of us aren't saints. Just help out once in a while. Volunteer at a shelter, participate in a food drive. We'll never fix it all, but we can at least pitch in a little every now and then.

I was at the pub with some friends and a table of 6 business men left a table full of perfectly good untouched food when they all simultaniously got cell phone calls and had to jet. Me, Kev and Bill had a feast. The other table by us gave us the worst looks, one fattish chick even spat on the ground (maybe she wanted it for herself?). I look over to her, while stuffing my face with a stuffed potato and said, "oh yeah, real charming." They tried to get us kicked out... it was funny.
