Yesterday's gallup poll had the race a dead heat again - both candidates with 47% among likely voters. The general consensus seems to be the first presidential debate really helped Kerry and hurt Bush - it got huge tv ratings. This election's such a big deal people seem to actually be paying attention to this stuff.

This website is far more valuable than whatever the national polls say, because gasp! 47-47 doesnt matter ultimately because thats not how the prez is elected.
And the electoral countup on this site is pretty much the same as it was before I left for LA last week.

I think this one is much harder to call. There wasn't anything to totally give it to one over the other.
Read some fact checking on MSNBC.com and it seems that quite a few lies and misleading statements were made, mostly by Cheney, so that changes my opinion of the debate a bit.
However, just from watching, Cheney definitely got more jabs in than Edwards, and his stuck more, whether true or not. The whole time I got this feeling that Cheney was that older grandfather or uncle that always treats you like you don't know anything because of your youth and relative inexperience. He talked down to Edwards through most of the debate.
Edwards did get to make some good points, though. It's just a matter of whether you agree with his viewpoint. He definitely made the case more for his prez nominee than Cheney for Bush; in contrast he just defended their administration's record.
This debate was interesting for me, as I haven't really heard these two talk much on their own before now. I've heard how Cheney was really the one running things, not Bush, and to an extent I can believe that now. I truly fear where this country would be if Cheney wasn't Bush's VP; in a twisted, roundabout way that makes me feel slightly better about where the country is.
But truth be told, your respected party will tout how they won, and you'll be closer to the truth than the first Prez debate, as it was obvious that Kerry truly one that one. While Cheney was MUCH stronger than Bush (even stronger than I expected he would be), I just don't agree with his politics enough to give him the win. I can see how others would, though.
I call it a close tie.
Did you people who voted for Edwards actually watch the debate, or is this a political swaying vote? If that were a football game, Edwards would have lost 63-7.

He said nothing to address one side of the pressure on Doctors, and his idea of having a group of people to approve lawsuits was laughable.
If that is as much thought as they have put into making things better for Doctors I really hate to see their plans for the healthcare system in the US.
You know what would fix this problem? Passing something that only let Lawyers get 5% of the money won in a malpractice lawsuit. You'd get more people doing it because they thought it was right, and less people doing it to get rich.
Of corse, I wasn't surprised by Edwards lame ass idea for Tort reform. He IS a trial lawyer. He can cry all he wants about saving the children of the world, but I have my doubts EVERY ONE of his past cases were like the one he talked about today.
