I was listening to Stern on the way to work this morning and he announced that, when his current contract with Infinity Broadcasting expires in 15 months (January 2006), he will be bringing his show to the Sirius satellite network. He signed a 5 year deal with them and seemed excited to finally be able to do the show "his way", with no censorship whatsoever.
Interesting...can't wait to see how depraved Stern gets when the gloves are off. :)
Awesome news. I'm not sure if I'd get satellite radio just for him though, as entertaining as he can be, I may not be able to catch his broadcast every morning.
Eh, I'll look into what it'll take to get satellite in my car at some point...I'd been considering it anyway.

He mentioned that the broadcast would repeat during the day, so if you miss him in the morning, you could catch him during the afternoon or at night.Quote:

This is HUUUUUUGE news. Expect broadcast radio to start with the "Satellite radio is bad, and kills puppies" Adverstising ad nausem.
Luckly Ill be listening to XM, and wont hear any of it. :P
Glad Stern is going to Sirius, the subscriber bump will help the company with its activation numbers, as they were a bit sketchy financially there.
I do wonder where all the money is coming from, they haven't even broke 1mil subs, yet and are already spending money like Trump.
Ill stick with XM, as I felt Howard hasn't been funny in years, and it has way better musical selection than Sirius.
Plus I can get O&A for my shock jock fill.
This sucks for me. I like Stern but I won't shell out for satillite radio when he's the only thing I would listen to. I'm more of a fan of CDs than radio.
Yeah, same. I never listen to the radio in the car or anywhere, with the exception of the two radio stations at my school when a friend of mine is doing a show. There's no way I could justify the price for Howard Stern alone, so here's hoping his show'll be downloadable somehow.Quote:

Supposedly all Sirius needs is a million new subscribers to become profitable. I think Stern can deliver at least that.
What about on television? I've never lived where Stern is broadcast on the radio and always watch him on E!. Will he move to HBO or something? I'd imagine his show is much better on tv anyway, Wheel of Benji and the like can't have nearly as much impact on the radio.
