The APC bug is only in AW, not AW2.
Basically, the AI assigns that the highest priority for a target (Even if you are capping a bldg) and will attack it until destroyed. If you spam APC's and keep them at the front, they will attack those and not the other units (Provided that they don't destroy all the APC's).
This gives you a massive advantage as you'll have full strength units attacking first every time.

I'd just like to point out that Advance Wars DS is not part of the launch lineup. On the other hand, it looks fucking awesome. The flying fortress thing is crazy, and the countdown to the missile or (i suppose) the satellite ion beam (a la Command & Conquer) is just insane. As we near launch it seems the DS library grows stronger on a daily basis, I mean, I keep hearing about cool games for the DS everyday.Quote:

Well the AW2 threads are all closed. NOW I'm on the last campaign stage, I've been using the game boy player to collect the S rankings on all of the last few levels. I think I accidentally skipped a few stages by picking the black hole things first, whoops. Some of the areas of my maps are shaded out, so I think those are what I skipped.
ANYWAY, on the second to last campaign stage, when you are storming the fortress, my grit/andy/eagle combo got it done in 22 days, which gave me a speed of 94 (but I know now where I lost 2 days, so I can have that up to 100 on another run through), got 100 technique easily, but my power went down the shitter. I forgot what that number is, isn't it some weird division of units you create over units the enemy has/creates? Because then I could get that number up by not buying all my happy superfluous units. I had like 25 extra bombers lying about just because I had all this cash I wasn't using.
One more note, on the character select screen for the second to last mission, there's a glitch where you can select yellow comet's forces instead of orange star's, but it really ruins the map, as I think it was made for andy/grit/eagle. Select your first CO with A, and then press b to cancel. It will remove your CO selection, but keep you at the next army of options. You can rotate through all of these this way, but there's no way to get blue moon as the third choice, because after you select your third army it won't rotate anymore. Or maybe there is, I didn't fiddle with it for too long. I'd like to try drake on the right hand side instead of eagle, but I'd wind up losing time in the end where you just blitz through with one bomber to take out the last two cannons. Shame I never got the double move for eagle, or I could have done that in one turn.
In fact, I delayed an unnecessary amount of time in blowing up the top pipe, so hitting that earlier (which sends all the units bottled up there on a kamikaze strike immediately) in combination with getting an eagle lightning strike would probably cut 4-5 days off my total. And now that I think about it, if I let the enemies get in closer and arranged my rockets past the leading edge of the cannons' range, then I would be able to hit more units with Eagle, and might be able to earn the strike. Wow shit, I'm gonna have to do it all over again now. :(
The game's finally out next Tuesday. 1up.com has the first review, and Mielke likes it alot. 9.0.
I will do everything in my power to grab this next week.
On an unreleated note, what is the state of DS emulation on the PC?
