Who cares about a robot flying around? Really. It lasted all of about 4 seconds out of a 10-20 minute scene and if you think that ruined the scene you ARE jaded as hell, whether you want to admit it or not. I didnt think it detracted from the scene at all.
Its really not that great. Unless you want to count Luke's whining. Harrison Ford gives the best line in the series ("I know") but its all weak overall, and the movies have a lot of the political stuff that everyone maligned about the new trilogy.Quote:

Oh, and the Empire is straight up incompetent - they couldnt do anything right in the old trilogy. Its quite bothersome, actually - every time Darth Vader tells them to do something they bumble it, and then Vader ends up force choking them and appointing someone else to do the same job (which that guy screws up too). The only one that did anything right in ESB besides Vader was Boba Fett, and we all know what happened to him. And keep in mind this happens all throughout Empire Strikes Back too, which is supposed to be the movie that flexes the muscle of the Empire.
Whats the point of this diatribe? The old movies are flawed, too, very flawed, but theyre still wonderful because of a few key strengths. Episode 3 has these same key strengths, and delivers them even better in some ways.
What am I jaded on if I still really enjoy the old trilogy but equate the new trilogy to cat vomit? If I were truly Jaded I'd not still enjoy watching the old movies as much as I do. Though some of the edited in scenes piss me off, like Jabba, etc... so I switch off between the unedited VHS tapes and the SE's.
In the end it comes down to opinions.

Dude, the lava utility droid zooming by Anakin and Obi Wan at a split second ruined the duel for you? Get a flippin' grip. Talk about taking things way too seriously. It wasn't even for humor, it was to establish that the robots were there mining the lava because Anakin eventually uses one as a stepping stone. It's all about what you grew up with and how you remember the films.

While I'll agree with you there is plenty of excellent acting in the OT and Portman was wooden in Ep 1 and 2, Padme pleading with Anakin on Mustafar was very well done and sure beats the crap outta Leia saying "I should have known you'd be on Tarkin's leash, "nerfherder" and Carrie Fisher actually trying to act bad in the RoTJ tree village bridge scene when she and Luke realise they are siblings. Gaaaag. :yuck: Fisher's acting in that scene is just AWFUL. But I still like RoTJ for its good points ya know?Quote:
