The movie is said to be more lighthearted than Episode 3, and includes a special emphasis on Obi-Wan's battles with interglactic gangster Jabba the Hutt, the vicious Sandpeople, and his deep, longstanding friendship with the adorable little Jawas.

What? No. Even at its worst moments, it was far better than the first three episodes. Episode IV has what the new trilogy could never achieve: likable characters. Even if certain parts of the storyline or whatnot are weak, the characters are so enjoyable in it that they make up for it. The only character in the new trilogy that ever had any shred of personality to them was Obi-wan.

And damn, the movie was made in, what, 1977? You have to give it some excuse for not having the most spot-on special effects and whatnot. As well, of course there was no Emperor in it - Lucas never had the idea for making it a big story, with nine movies connecting to one other, that's all utter BS. Darth was supposed to be the man, and he was in that movie, and then when the Emperor came along it turned Darth into a lesser villain and weakened him a bit.

Plus there was an outcry of Vader showing his face, which pretty much destroyed the respect diehards had for him at the time. The new fans of this generation may like how it concludes his end, but they would never understand.

That can't be real.

While I think his cry should have sounded more "monstrous"/bloodcurdling I fail to see how it ruined the movie or the Vader "persona." It was just young Anakin crying out behind the mask because his wife is dead. Makes sense to me.

No you're thinking episode III, I'm talking about the other trilogy.
