Also, it doesn't make any sense on why C3P0 even existed in Episode 1. I don't give a fuck how "gifted" the kid is, I don't think he can build a complex computer filled with billions of lines of code out of a bunch of parts lying around here and there. And is it just coincidence that in the newer movies that model of droid (the C3P0) one is no longer unique?
If he doesn't want to deal with the contradictions he should've give out the rights to publish other Star Wars books and comics based on his universe. Also, the company that publishes the Star Wars games (LucasArts) which I believe is owned by Lucas has published games with a bunch of characters, planets, events, etc. related to the "extended" Star Wars universe.Quote:

I agree, which is why I said the Jedi came across as dicks.Quote:

Like I said, Lucas doesn't give a shit about "dealing with contradictions." His word is law when it comes to Star Wars. He just lets these clowns create dozens and dozens of novels, comic books, and video games because he likes making money off them, but if push came to shove, he'd disown every single word they wrote and do his own thing.Quote:

I meant the original trilogy. All this "prequel after the sequel" stuff makes for difficult conversation.Quote:

Like I said, Luke proved that you can be emotional and a Jedi at the same time. If anything, Luke was a better Jedi because he was emotional.
I also have thought ever since AoTC that Lucas was making a statement on the Catholic church's stance on not allowing marriage which is but one thing that has led to rampant pedophilia and other problems in the church. Interesting thing, history shows the real reason they enacted celibacy: if a priest had a wife, she could easily inherit any land or money he had of course. Celibacy kinda took care of that little inconvenience.
And I too have been thinking that Lucas's perception of the Jedi changed considerably over time. I think Obi Wan changed quite a bit by ANH. You can tell he is re-energized by Luke. Yoda however is still almost as stubborn as ever in ESB. :p You can't blame him for worrying about Luke though after what his dad did.
One more general thing I wanna add: the wide panning shots of Mustafar's massive lava waterfall and shots of Anakin and Obi Wan struggling to hang onto the crumbling lava utility tower as it falls toward the fire lake are two of the single most epic Star Wars vistas I have seen since Hoth.
You know, weird thing- I've been kinda burnt out on the Original Trilogy for ages (I mean, I've seen it probably a billion fucking times), but seeing RotS last night suddenly makes me want to watch the OT again really badly. I know I keep saying this but the Prequels (especially RotS) really make Luke look like a rebel, bad-ass Jedi instead of a whiny bitch.
I think I might rank them

Dolomite:
Man, did Anakin become REALLY evil REALLY fast? I mean, one second he's turning in Palapatine for being a Sith Lord, the next second he's chopping up roomfulls of little kiddies and buying every little thing Sidious says. The turn came waaay too fast. Lucas really should have been planting the major seeds for it in the second movie- here, it just feels silly how fast he turned and embraced the Dark Side.
I gotta almost completely disagree 'cuz...
It only seems like a fast transition. I mean, he wiped out an entire village of Sandpeople, men, women, kiddie tuskens without even thinking twice. And that was over his mom who he hadn't seen in ten years. He had dreams his mom was going to die and she did. Now he is having the same dreams about Padme who he is married to and is expecting a child. He was already obsessed with the idea of using the Force somehow to prevent people from dying in AoTC. Lucas definitely planted the seeds in AoTC. Despite all his good intentions, his entire personality otherwise was already almost 100% selfish. The actual transition from Anakin to Vader seems quick after Mace is killed, but consider the following: Anakin was already well established as having few qualms about killing people depending on the situation, again, the Tuskens and he didn't hesitate much with Dooku. When Mace is overpowering Sidious, he is already on a paper thin line of still caring about others besides those close to him, or only caring about his wife, family and children. So, the confrontation between Mace and Sidious was the straw-thin situation which pushed him to decide which he wants; again two major choices: trying to help all people and not being fearful, OR taking the offer of the dark side in hopes of giving exclusive, twisted protection to only he, his wife and family. By the beginning of Ep 3, Anakin thinks of people as possesions, not individuals any more. Besides, before that Anakin is being yelled at left and right rapid fire: Mace: "Don't listen to him, Anakin!" Palp: "I'm almost dead! I'm the only one who can save your loved ones!" So in light of everything I said before, he has to make a choice really quick: side with Mace who has never helped him much even though Anakin admires the Jedi's drive to destroy the Sith, or with Sidious who can supposedly give him a way to protect his wife and kids who are at that point the only people he cares about anymore. Lucas explains this really well in the AoTC commentary, some of his affection and love is healthy but a lot of it is clouded and I quote "...he wants to keep people and events frozen in time." That is a serious psychological problem already in place in AoTC. Then he gets married and is obsessed gradually with keeping his wife and kids "frozen in place" so to speak. He can't let go and hope for the best and just enjoy them. He wants an invincible wall around he and his family, but it's just not possible. That's why he tells Padme on Mustafar when he's trying to convince her of his viewpoint "I will create our own reality." And he has had that desire and idea ever since he confessed his darkest secrets to Padme in the Lars' garage.
