Theforce.net got the scoop on the trailers for Episode I and II, so I'm sure these reports are legit. Sounds cool. Hopefully the movie doesn't completely suck.

Yes. He had to be whiney to show the clear family relationship between he and that flamer Luke.Quote:

I swear to God if Lucas didn't get James Earl Jones to do the voice I'm going to.... rant about it on the internet like I'm tough.
thats what it seems like. or at least people were just bitching about when hayden plays vader. which would make sense to possibly have a little different voice since he IS younger in the storyline. but i have no clue which stance they have.
I thought Jones was already pretty much signed on to do vader's voice once more? After all, he [vader] does have that voice altering breathing apparatus... Admittedly however, it would be quite hilarious to hear darth vader bitch about how rough sand is. :chick:
Funny you should mention rough sand, cka... because your skin is so smooth. Not like sand at all...Quote:

i really loved the episode 1 poster with little anakin and his shadow was the silhouette of vader. this ones cool too, but not as.
So this one isnt a fake? I remember there was another poster that came out last week or something with Anakin standing in the hall of one of the imperial ships Leia and R2D2 were in at the beginning of ANH with the Vader shadow in front of him......
Why does it say "THE SAGA IS COMPLETE", I thought there were 9 episodes?
Oh hell yea...can't wait...I hope GG is cool looking as well.Quote:

Official teaser. That is one ulgy-ass poster.
That is hideous.
Doesnt look too bad. It probably would've looked better if they were to just put Vaders helmet in the background instead of having Anakins cape flare out and look all smoke-like forming it but hey, it gets the message across I guess. It is a tease.Quote:

I just watched the teaser guys. HOLY SHIT.
I said the same thing before Episode I and II. Then the movies turned out ... meh.
But EP 1 and 2 didn't have a fuckton of wookies, vader, capital gunship battles over both naboo and couriscant, lightsaber fights from asshole to appetite (yoda/sidious, windu/somebody else, obi-wan/anakin), anakin looking like an eeeeeeeeeevil motherfucker, etc etc etc...

I want to believe, I WANT TO BELIEVE! Please, Lucas, make this one awesome. Please. Don't make it rough, like sand, which gets in everything. Please.I forgot TRL existed. If you'd stop watching it you could too.Quote:

Saw it...looked pretty cool, but what trailer doesn't? Impressive, but nothing mind-blowing. Lucas has already numbed me to the effects of CG with his last 2 movies.
Nice to see Vader in the trailer, but the shot of him rising up was kinda weird...his arms looked all stubby for some reason. It would have looked 1000x cooler if he sat up on his own like Frankenstein as opposed to a table lifting him up. That just looked lame. I mean, why would the Emperor tell him to rise if a table had to to it for him? Whatever.
I'm reserving excitement until I'm walking out of the theater when the movie is over, and by some miracle it turned out to be good.
*EDIT* For those that are interested, I took a screenshot of Vader from the trailer...enjoy. See what I mean about the stubby arms (or are his hands missing?)? If anyone wants me to take more shots let me know.

Man, fuck this crap. I'm way too excited about this movie, and I want to get my expectations lower, but I can't help it. Everything points to it being awesome, but it could be another potentially huge disappointment. Still... I want it to be awesome.
After two movies of this and a third potential letdown, I feel like a battered wife who keeps crawling back to an abusive alcoholic husband.

Fuck it, I'm going to call it like I see it...the teaser looked damn awesome.
I liked how they put together the clips from the past films to lead up to Vader. Anakin finally looks badass in this.
This better RAPE the first two, I'd also like for it to be equal to the original trilogy stuff but that's pushing it.
Supr.
I wouldn't have watched it had the internet not told me to.Quote:

That Darth Smiegel manip is funny too.
 Yeah, I saw Dath Smiegel pic earlier today, and its awesome.
Thanks for the link, the teaser looks awesome, and I think the movie will be better than last two.
We shall see, but as always its a good idea to keep your expectations in check.

Also, that's a lot of wookies.
I very much look forward to this

Looks like a Star Wars movie alright.
After Star Wars Trilogy DVD sales, George probably has enough money now to do that...Quote:

I dunno, I sort of prefer it on the CG end. Sure, it doesn't have the "heart" that the older pre-SE trilogy has, but I watch star wars because I love to watch some crazy crap go down with massive starship battles and space ninjas and robots and aliens and shit like that, and with CG it's all the more easier to do all that stuff with.
Ok, the trailer is badass. I really hope there is a miracle and this movie doesn't suck.
The trailers for TPM and AOTC were great as well.
I'll stick to my belief that this is to be the final "FUCK YOU FANS" before Lucas fades away.
That is without a doubt the most convincing thing I've ever seen for something I can almost certainly guarantee will completely disappoint me.

I do not prefer the CG. I can understand doing it for ships or some backgrounds or such, but not for characters or monsters. At least if it's a muppet or a guy in a costume, you get the feeling that they're actually in the room with the human actors, making it easier to suspend disbelief. It's harder to get into something when you see people "acting" with a what you know is just a placeholder until they got around to adding the CG character. It doesn't have the personality or the realism.Quote:

Exactly. As I said, it's a trailer's JOB to look good. There's been thousands of shit movies with awesome trailers.Quote:

Sure, since CGI is still not flawless, in many scenes they can look less than stellar, but as long as you can ACCEPT them and believe into the fantasy moment director/crew tries to create, you would be ok.
But if you would look on ALL CGI stunt scenes, its a different beast all together. Take for example Van Hellsing, with all the CGI flying, jumping, fighting and swinging. It just looked unnatural, and far less exciting, that if it had at least some of the scenes, to be "real".
Van Helsing is a good example of what not to do with CGI.Quote:

Believe me, I do think CG has its place and can be an amazing tool for enhancing a movie. But there should be a balance. If it's possible to do something with make-up and coustumes, they should go that route. If it's not possible, THEN use CG.
Agreed 100%.Quote:

CG Yoda > Puppet Yoda.
Thus ends the good changes with CG in Star Wars.
I'm going into this expecting absolutely nothing, because that's what the last two prequels delivered.
Is the guy that looks like a vampire in the teaser supposed to be a Sith?
This movie is going to have a shitload of fightscenes and duels since we have Anakin,Kenobi, Darth Sidious,Darth Tyrannus, Darth vampire guy (assuming he's not just some normal cornball alien), General Grievous, Mace, Yoda, not to mention every living Jedi futiley fighting for their lives. I doubt this movie will be bad because of those factors alone.
We shouldnt have to worry about anyone bitching about how rough sand is in this one - they wont have time to.
No, he's just an alien, not a sith.
:( , Bah, well, we'll still have enough fightscenes to go around either way I'm sure.Quote:

I mean it seems like nostalgia from the first trilogy just totally ruins a lot of people for these new ones. Just take them as they are - decent action movies with a lot of special effects. They are generally entertaining as hell for me to watch. And yeah there are some gay scenes in Ep. 1 and 2 ("Now THATS pod-racing" :| , and the aforementioned "sand" lines, any scene with Jar-Jar) but the first trilogy had some equally corny lines and scenes and as a whole those turned out quite well.Quote:

Dude, the romance between Anakin and the Queen had moments that were so awfully acted that it was excruciating to watch. The original trilogy might've had its hokey moments, but nothing nearly as egregious as that horrific display of acting. In episode I, I thought the "child" Anakin was terrible too. Jar-Jar, hoo boy. Awful.Quote:

Yeah, but in Lucas' defense I think he was trying to create a similar formula as the first. He hired relative unknown's for the major roles of Anakin and Padme the way he did in the first trilogy. It's just that those actors just so happened to suck. It would've taken even longer for us to see these if he would've gone back and recast the roles, so it was risk on his part. But yeah, Jar-Jar was inexcusable.Quote:

Yeah, I'm not saying they are unwatchable, just disappointing.
The one thing that still really bothers me is Vader's voice. The "Yes Masterrrr" doesn't sound right at all, he needs that touch of English accent in there. Here's hoping James Earl Jones will do the final. Also hoping they'll pad Hayden's wimpy physique more to make him at least resemble David Prowse.
The original trilogy could be enjoyed by one and all, young and old alike. The prequels are like children's movies. There's a far more blatant attempt to pander to kids and tie into merchandising.
And as haohmaru pointed out, the dialogue is 10,000x hokier than the already hokey dialogue in the original trilogy. In addition, Lucas has regressed as a director since the 70s- he hires shitty and/or overrated actors (Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman) who do poorly and gets almost equally shitty performances out of legit good actors (Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor). I'm not saying that the acting in the original Trilogy was Oscar-quality, but no one shows the personalty in the prequels that they did in the old movies. Almost every interview I've read with the actors say that Lucas seems less interested in getting good performances out of them than he is in getting to the next CG shot.
Lucas should have brought back Irvin Fucking Kershner.
It's Harrison Ford.
Take him away, and you've got nothing.
He really did make the Trilogy. Remember the old rumors that he wouldn't be coming back for Return of the Jedi? That would have sucked.
He wanted Han Solo to die in ROTJ. Fucking should have...
