My friend just messaged me because he saw a new nintendo commercial, he describesd it as:
Mom & Dad tell the audience their children are on mushrooms, commercial spot for the new mario game shows, then the camera closes in on the childrens pupils, which are hugely dilated, and say Nintendo within them.
Wonder who thought this one up... and I wonder what game it's promoting... I've seen the mario pinball one and it wasn't like this... Mario DS maybe?
Nintendo's doing weird advertising of late. I recently saw a commercial that had a hobo wandering around saying he was addicted to Nintendo and blaming the addiction for the downfall of his life. He has: Will Work for Electricity sign up and everything. At the end of the commercial something similar to the eye-pupil dialation comes up with the Mario growth sound (from getting the red mushrooms).
It was well done. Nintendo just needs to take this attitude and apply it to some of its games (not all) and they'd probably see increased sales.
Really, how many games feature you as a hobo? (no seriously... are there any?)
I heard there were supposed to be SP color-specific ads running, assigning personalities to the different colors. All I've seen though is the red one, and start mayhem.
Otherwise I love their new ads. Pikmin especially. I've liked the entire GC ad campaign actually. Makes me proud to be a GC owner.
The Pikmin 2 ad is funny for those familiar with the first game but I don't think it's a good ad. If you had no idea what Pikmin was, the ad isn't going to make any sense.

However, I don't think that's quite what Nintendo are trying to advertise in their hobo campaign.

I have heard several of my friends speak of this commercial, and neither of them are big fans of gaming. The commercial makes you wonder about Pikmin in a curious fashion. No doubt people who want to know what's going on will look. It's a successful commercial campaign and I'm guessing Nintendo got some new advertisers or marketters.Quote:

Other than that, I used to think of Nintendo's ads as out-of-touch and crappy, but this gen I think they've been doing a much better job.
