New Superman finally cast?

I know the rumors on the new Superman movie and the cast of it have been churning for quite a while, but supposedely Singer and crew have finally cast the latest person to wear the red,blue, and yellow. Brandon James Routh.Apparently he's been on a couple of soap opera shows or something.

Looks the part at least. Although supposedly hes younger than Tom Welling who plays Supes in the Smallville TV show. So if there is a downside to him being cast - that would be it. Especially since the movie is taking place later in Supermans career.

Lois Lane is also supposed to have been cast. 'Tha winna' - Mischa Barton ( No relation to Lucas Barton:sweat: ) of Sixth Sense fame :

Why is being younger than Tom Welling even a mentionable, let alone a downside?

I don't think there's any truth to that Lois casting though. Superherohype updated with this:

"UPDATE!! - We checked with our own independent sources at WB and they confirmed that Brandon Routh is indeed cast as Superman. Our sources added that they don't know when Lois Lane will be cast. They also threw in tidbits that Superman writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris were recently spotted on the WB lot going through stacks and stacks of Superman comic books, so it appears that they are going back to the source material for inspiration. Our sources also confirmed that General Zod will be involved in some capacity. More to come!"

Although its not like the Smallville and the Superman movie are interconnected at the waist ,continuity wise or anything, so I can see why you wonder that.

Like I said though he looks the part, and probably would make a much better Supes than Nicholas Cage,Orlando Bloom, or Cavaziel ( God, they would have been bad choices :yuck: )

He's 6'2, I'm sure he can get a bit bigger working out and all. Worked for Thomas Jane.

Reeve was perfect though.

Hard to say as I havent seen many pics or any TV shows or whatever with him in them. I agree with Will in that I am sure he can bulk up for the part.

Reeve was way to skinny for superman

and i dont know about bulking up its a Body Type I just dont think he looks broadshouldered and barrel chested enough for superman
