I just saw it 2 days ago and clearly remember he said 4 years. If that isn't enough, here it is documented by some horrible and sad Lost nerd.

Also, how good are they at wrapping at least SOME shit up by the end of season 1? Will I ever find out what that hot piece of ass did to get put in handcuffs?

They're not stupid, the general public is stupid. They're good at giving the public what they want, and make lots and lots of money doing so. If they think some shitty change that will ruin the vision and depth of the show will appeal to the average viewer, you know what? They're probably right.
