The first few minutes gave me goosebumps. Overall the episode was good, but not a season opener good.
It feels like Lost is going to go move away from all the mystery and actually progress in the story and possible answer questions a lot the way.
Stop bitching about the commercials.

The beginning was an outsanding way to start the season, putting you directly into The Others village and seeing how they live. Then fast forwarding to the present where Jack, Sawyer, and Kate are captured. The Jack story part of the episode explaining what happened between him, his wife, and his father was also great, not mind blowing, but very interesting in terms of characterization.
Overall I would give the episode a B. Between what you learn about The Others and the way that they live, and what you learned about Jack it was overall a pretty good episode. Ranking it comparativly to the other 2 season premieres I would put this as the "worst" one, even though it was a solid episode.
Actually i think it's kind of funny. In season two it would piss me off when they talk all around issues and never get to them, but now it doesn't bother me. I think it's because now everyone knows barely anything is going to happen in an episode. Everyone I know jokes about it. This episode I was fine with getting to see a lot of the Other's camp and facilities. I look forward to shitting on this show for another season!Quote:

I'm not expecting another timer-to-zero situation, but it does seem like the pace will a bit faster than this week's. More concerned with the week after's episode where the TV guide listing specifically says we will find out what happened with Locke, Eko, and Desmond. Makes sense since the episode is supposed to be about Locke.

The revelation that Jack led his father to relapse was a surprising one.
