For some reason I just can't enjoy exploring in the elderscrolls games.

That's not necessarily so; I've played characters who tossed out the imperial orders right off the bat and never even spoke to Caius. The enemies you fight are keyed to your level of experience, so unless you start running through Daedric ruins at level 2 you should be okay.

As for the exploration thing, try finding an item called the Boots of Blinding Speed (and the resist magicka you need to use them). That may increase your enjoyment of getting around one hundred-fold. Barring that, mixing racer plumes + trama root = your best friend.

Can't help with the "everything looks the same" part, though. There's a ton of geographical variance, especially if you have the expansions.

I know this is heresy, but I want to agree with the original poster.

I borrowed this game this previous summer, sat down with it for a few hours, and was sort of underwhelmed. I felt like I was playing Kings Field 2 again.

It hurt that I didn't have any documentation for this game, or much time ... but after sitting in the beginning town for an hour, than half-heartedly doing a quest ... I deleted the game and returned it to my friend.

Exploring is the only thing I liked about Morrowind. Go knows the combat was ass.

Morrowind has documentation? (I first borrowed it and then I got an OEM copy with a video card.)

Out of curiousity, if you never went anywhere how could you agree with the original poster? His complaint was about having trouble exploring the wilderness.

I recommend finding the attack button, because I've never been killed nor even severly wounded by a worm for any of the 10+ characters I've made for Morrowind.

I had trouble with worms because I play unarmed a low priority, so they were a little bit more difficult to kill at the start.

This is the truth, the "worm" which was a kwamma forager is really level up fodder, i can understand being killed by one first, before you learn the game mechanics. but never figuring out the mechanics enought to be able to hit the forager is kind of your fault, i could take it out with my high elf caster character at the start once i learned how the game was played, and she started patheticaly weak. One thing im happy about with oblivion is that they got rid of the "background rolling" and now if your weapon hits the baddie, it hits him, skill only applies to damage and maybe special move acquisition, So now people can finally quit complaining about this.
