Any fans of this game here? I played the arcade version a hell of a long time ago and it was pretty good from what I remember. It also came out on Famicom, PC Engine, and in Namco Museum 5 on PS1. Anyone played those versions?

The Famicom Valkyrie no Bouken is an earlier and completely different game than Valkyrie no Densetsu, and not nearly as cool. I picked up the PC Engine version a few months back to christen the system, and although it's a somewhat respectable version of the game with nice cover art, it does lose a bit of visual flair in the transition, and adds some annoying slowdown.
Best home version is on Namco Museum Vol. 5.
Thanks. I assumed the Famicom one was a butchered port, not a different game. It's the same main character, isn't it?

Yeah, it's pretty much the same main character. The Famicom game was called Valkyrie no Bouken came out in 1986, about three years prior to the arcade release. I picked the cart up about a year or so ago, and it seemed be a fairly uninteresting, primative action-RPG title. Check it out if you're really interested in the series, but it's nothing you'll be terribly impressed by.
If densetsu means legend in Japanese what does bouken mean?

The Valkyrie is one of the best gals for the Namco team.:D (I even have the fugure on my computer right now.)
