I think the whole idea of Resident Evil 4 being on a Nintendo console exclusively was pretty lame. It's a Sony system game, and I don't think it going to Nintendo bodes well for Nintendo. Same with the Twin Snakes. If they want Konami to make them a good game, then let them. As of now they're just taking tried and tested from the PSX or PS2 and slapping it onto their format. I own both systems, so I don't really care either way, but porting the entire series to the Cube in the first place was stupid as fuck. Should've just done the RE remake and immediately moved to RE4, or just made something new for the Cube, instead of dragging the series through the mud.

Well, lets be real here, #3 was kinda crummy and then Capcom decided to put the games on different, shitty platforms and then slap the name on trash like Survivor. WTF is the point of bringing out a game that is clearly designed to work best on XBox and GC? If they keep the polygon count, etc for the PS2 version then it's going to have slowdown and take forever to load. Making an XBox version instead would be better performance wise..

I think I also figured out the whole Fanboy thing: I honestly think the problem is that people get mad because they can't afford to buy all the consoles to get all the games they are interested in. Where as me, I own all three consoles, so it doesn't effect me in the least. I couldn't care less what system a game comes out on because I can play it no matter what. You're absolutely right on this one. Considering their new marketting campaign seems more adult-oriented I don't think this will be a problem. This is assuming, however, that they don't change their marketting by the time RE4 drops. Good third party GC games that are marketed well sell well, just look at the Sonic games on Cube, the Monkey Ball games, Soul Calibur 2, etc.
RE4 won't be coming to PS2 for another year and certainly won't look as good on PS2 anyway, so I'm more offended on principle than anything (for months Capcom has gone out of their way to stress that this game was absolutely and forever exclusive to Cube). I don't think it's fair to say only Cube fans are biased towards exclusive games, I think a big reason so many good Sega games don't sell is because people are tired of them being arbitrarily system exclusive. That, and people that were into Dreamcast feel burned that the whole library is coming out on other systems.
Cube fans get a lot of shit from third parties, they're expected to buy subpar third party games then neglected altogether when they don't. Their exclusive games almost always end up going to PS2.
Finally, a lot of people dislike PS2 in general, and for good reason. It's hardware lags far behind Xbox and Cube, yet it sells through the roof so most third party games are developed for it and Xbox and Cube owners end up getting games for their system with PS2 graphics. Sony systems seem to break down a whole lot more than others. Sony also doesn't seem to make nearly as much of an effort to make consistently great first and second party games the way Nintendo and lately Microsoft do. Personally I see PS2 as a ghetto Xbox that lots of ignorant people buy because they played Grand Theft Auto at their cousin's house.
While I see the PS2 as the easiest one to recommend to folks, as it's the best dollar-for-dollar system available for most families.
I don't understand the problem here. It's still going to be on the Gamecube, and it will still probably be better on it. Any complaining about this is just bitchiness from fanboys who think the console wars still mean anything.

The port to PS2 doesn't bother me at all, what does bother me is why would Capcom say this now. If they would've waited till, say, E3 next year, they would've sold more copies. They would've benefited by waiting to make the announcement. Maybe theres something bad going on between them and Nintendo now. This announcement will obviously cut into potential GC sales, Capcom has to know this.
