Shenmue is the greatest game of all time. You cannot argue this. If Jesus's semen were pressed to a disc and playable on a machine of human creation, Shenmue would be this semen.

To be fair to Shenmue, it didn't do ANYTHING new or innovative, except for have nice graphics.

Even I would rather play GTA than Shenmue.

Quite possibly the only thing that could make Shenmue better would be the ability to ride around on a pig. Or perhaps spontaneous death for no foreseeable reason what so ever.

The controls were serviceable at best, there were little to no RPG elements whatsoever (unless you count your moves improving ever-so-slightly with hours of practice), terrible dialogue, about 4 decent adventure game puzzles (all in your house and dojo) padded by 100674583475 useless "talk to this person next" fetch quests.

I dunno if you should complain about play mechanics and the controls of Shenmue when GTA really needs a fix in those areas before they start adding so much stuff. Covering up crappy gameplay with variety shouldnt work as well as it does in this day and age. To be fair, its not just GTA but a lot of games in general.

I thoguht Shenmue 2 was way better myself. It really was paced much better and superior to most RPG's. Heck RE4 is going to be great because they found a way to make scenes choreographed as cool as the Shenmue 2 sequences with a way people wont complain about. An action button instead of Shenmue 2's QTE's.
