Not really. America was well liked during the Clinton years, and countries like Australia have always had much love for America. Nowadays, even in countries really close to America, the generally consensus is that Americans are fat, ignorant, bible-bashing, corporate slave cowboys. There's scientific evidence of the former, but I disagree on the second, and I don't know about the rest. You shouldn't care about what the French and Australians think because weren't not going to spawn many dissidents, but in shithole countries...

I'm so tired of hearing people bitch about Bush being anti gay, the country voting anti gay in 11 states, etc. First of all, it's not just Bush against gay marriage, Kerry was also. Secondly, gay marriage is NOT a civil rights issue. Gays tried to make it one this election season and it completely blew up in their faces, get over it. Bush and Kerry are both in favor of a form of civil union for gays that's similar to marriage, as are most Americans.

Gore was hampered by his inability to use his previous 8 years of experiences.

At a base level, senators (especially from the NE) have an uphill climb to reach out to voters. People want something to hang on to. Someone to root for. It's hard for the average person to get behind someone like Kerry. It's the same problems Micheal Dukkasis ran into in 1988. Kerry's age and social status does not reach the young, the african americans or the Reagan Democrats.

Kerry never articulated what he was for. Clinton was adept at spelling out that he was strong on National Health Care, and was going to make sweeping changes in his first 100 days. Clinton also remained focused on one issue. The economy. He didn't stray off onto other topics. He pounded and pounded, until it took hold.

Quit drinking the kool-aid. There will be no draft .. and Roe v Wade is THE law of the land. Spouting such nonsense makes you a Democrat tool .. who believes whatever fearmongering they have to say. You might as well hold a sign on the corner that says "The End is Nigh".

By them, I really meant the youth. And yes, they are lazy. I dont give a shit who they voted for, but I would have been happy if the youth finally mobolized this year. Instead it was the same old stagnent shitheads who dont vote. And no, this is not some partisian BS, I wont the youth to vote so we are finally taken serious. This year has seen a huge focus on the youth vote, and we failed to turn out. Do you think that politicians are going to try so hard in 4 years? Probably not.

And I am also not talking about people who vote different than me. I am really refering to something greater than voting. I mean that the rift between the left and right and support and hate for the president is massive. If the left was not such fucking pansys and the youth was not so lazy we would see things like marches and protests much like we did 30 years ago.

So again, I fail to see what my post had to do w/ anybody voting differently than me.

In 1972 52% of those 18-24 voted. In 1992, 48% voted.

If you give young people something to vote FOR ... they will turn out. Neither one of these candidates even paid much attention to thier votes. With no real promises or programs that they could get excited about.


So why blame them?

Kerry did EXTREME sports like every weekend and the youth didn't turn out!
