Not Wanted

We have to see what is to come. Bush spent the past four years setting forth a policy that would help him get re-elected. Its naive to assume he will do all the same shit he did before. He's gonna spend the next four years trying to forge a legacy, as well. Its exactly what Clinton did.

Oh, and I read that the defining issue for MANY people was morals. Could it be that the gays that pushed gay marriage so heavily actually played a large part and are largely responsible for Kerry's defeat?

The fallacy with that is that Bush seemed to actually be more lenient about Civil Unions than Kerry did. Double irony.

Goes to show you why this country is so dumb.

People care more about deciding who can and can't get married than about something like the ENVIRONMENT.

The priorities of the majority of people in this country make me want to move, not who they voted for.

No. They want tax cuts because taxes are odious and people feel that the government is irresponsible. It is, and even many republicans aren't happy with Bush's spending. Hopefully, something on that front changes. Also note that the deficit was gigantic in the 80s, and Reagan cut taxes. Yet, somehow, we still enjoyed a huge economic boom over the ensuing years. The economy, the debt, the deficit -- they all ebb and flow depending on a whole lot of factors other than who is president and the immediate domestic and national policies. Economic doomsday has not yet arrived.

Where are you getting this from? Curiously, one of the biggest threats to Europe's economy is underpopluation -- a point I explained in some detail in a thread earlier this year. Regardless, the president doesn't decide where people choose to live in this country, and Roe v. Wade isn't going anywhere.

USA! USA! USA! And seriously, on balance, there's more opportunity and freedoms here than just about anywhere else on earth. Again, buck up.

Becoming disenfranchised and giving up on the electoral process is the worst thing you can do now. We're gonna be a one-party system if the Dems just give up and don't take back some ground in state elections these 4 years, letting a majority Repub house and congress, and the religious right they represent, continue gaining influence and power.

If anything, this election will make the Democrats realize how fucked up they are now. They havent had a consistent, guiding message for years. Theyll be much stronger in 2 and 4 years, and yea the entire country will benefit from this.
