If you were wealthy, and you were already paying FAR more in taxes than people with less money, think about how you'd feel about your country if there was a tax cut and you were left out of it because the government decided you didn't "need" your money. I'm not trying to be funny about this either, I'm really serious. I think it'd be a great idea with the potential to raise a lot of money.
I'm all for researching alternative sources of energy, I think we should do it more. But we're still going to need oil for a long time.
And we have oil. It's not going to be cheap, but we have it. Best to start now, and honestly, I don't see many inroads being made at mediating our use of fossil fuels.
There are a lot of things that can be made with out oil. Houses, furniture, clothes, shit like that. The trick is, how do you get society to willingly embrace the lifestyle of about 50 to 70 years ago?
Oh and is anyone looking into how the hell China has managed to feed so many of it's people with out oil for so long? Something like that will be good to know when chemical fertilizers start going up in price.
China didn't feed its people, though. So unless the US wants to starve a million people to death by having them melt down all their metal, don't follow China's example.
I know, but didn't they feed a lot of them? Are there no secret rice growing tricks or something? We have a lot more open land than they do, and a smaller population. Shouldn't that even out better for us?Quote:

Nice book about Communist China's "The Great Leap Forward," famine of 1958-1962, the numbers it gives for dead is around 30 million...

Man, I'm glad I made my official statement. Please refer to it.
Seriously, quit your bitching, people. We lost. Get over it, move on, and try to make 2008 a better outcome than this time. Look at the county map - that has to change by 2008 and it won't if people don't shut up about voting fraud. Idiots.
You're right: you lost. Democrats are acquiescent losers, looking forward 4 years. Kerry's in good company. ;)
If you can't beat Bush after 4 years of Bush, quite frankly, you have no chance of winning ever. Just hope he really stole it.
