You guys seem to be knowledgeable about Apple hardware, whereas I am not, so hopefully someone can tell me where the best/cheapest place to find a new 3rd gen 40 gig Ipod is.....I don't see the older models at the online apple store, and I don't see much new on Ebay and don't want to go that route if possible, retail or a site like newegg would be preferable. Keep in mind I want the 3rd gen model, not the newest one. Also, how much should I expect to pay for a 3rd gen 40 gig? Thanks.
I know that there are 3rd gen iPODs being sold at BB still. For a lower price. check out your local BB stores...
I went last nite, they didn't have the old version, just the 4th gen. I'm not even sure if the 3rd gen works with a PC, because I don't have a mac, I'm hoping it does. I'll try compusa, but I don't know anywhere else to try :(
An iPod will cost the same everywhere you go +/- $5 (if theyre having a 'sale'). There really isn't a point in bargan hunting, as Apple sets the price for the damn things.
If you're short on cash (which seems to be the case), I would seriously suggest looking into an alternative. I have an iPod. Its nothing great. The battery sucks. And having one makes me feel like such a consumer whore, just like the rest of the college kids.
I'm not worried about the price, I just cant seem to find the damn things (the older version) There's got to be some of the older models left, what do the stores do with the older ones once the new one came out? It seems they just replaced them immediately. Doesn't Apple offer diff. models on their online store? How come they don't still offer the older one (as far as I can find on their site)?
Apple basically phased out the older models, had you asked around July I could've told you about a few deals that were going on with the older models but it seems like all you will find now are 4G models. Is there a reason you want the 3G instead of the 4G model? If it's about the price, I'm sure you can get a pretty good deal if you look around enough, I know that the HP Ipods are cheaper on Amazon than their Apple counterparts and Target.com had a 10% sale online off anything. Just check all the BBs and Circuit Citys in your area. They should still carry them. Last I heard, BB was selling the 3rd gen 15 gig model for $215.
There's no benefit to having a 3G iPod.
Price, battery, features, whatever.
Just get a 4G.
