Honestly, just because games coming out at 40 - 50 is status quo doesn't mean that's how much they have to charge. They've probably seen more profit from this and gained more mind share. I'd personally like to see more figures. Reguardless, EA was making MUCH more money on their games, and also sold more, but they're most conserned with mindshare. They lose that, then Sega can begin chargeing a little more each year. It's established that people will pay 50 for a game they want. When enough people find that ESPN is the game they want - THEN EA will be screwed (screwed in the sensce that they will be making just less than they're used to). It's more of a long term strategy, seeing as how VC/Sega/TT are taking in as much if not more money on the ESPN games as they (VC and Sega) are used to, they have only mindshare to gain, which can help them tremendously in the long run. Just a well played hand really.
