I'm looking at a few different head units for the car. So far, I like this one from Clarion.

I would so get this if it was cheaper and in black or silver.
WTF is up with that tube in the middle?
Vacuum tube. Old school analog tech. I can't find any good web sites that explain it all easily, but bascially vacuum tube amps produce a smoother, more pure sound.
Many musician snobs prefer tube amps.
I got a Pioneer that's XM ready and plays mp3 encoded discs for 150. I really like it. I would change some things but it's a quality head unit.
Ive got a Pioneer DEH7500-MP

Plays MP3 cds/cdrws, XM Satelite ready and a beautiful OLED screen. Dont know if its been replaced with a newer but Pioneer seems to have some of best heads out there right now..

My father included. Tubes can produce the most superior sound when coupled with the right components. Records take advantage of this most, and it's amazing what clarity you can achieve.Quote:
