Hands on the DS

Played it at my Gamestop yesterday. There was no cartridge, but they let you play around with PictoChat and the Metroid Prime: Hunters demo. Played it with a friend - truly is a blast, I gotta say. The analog control is nifty, they take lefties into account (whoo!)

And the graphics are just fine - perfect for a nice little diversion on a bus or plane ride. I know I'll most likely end up getting both the PSP and DS, but I have no doubt that I'll enjoy my DS.

It may well be fast and smooth, but definitely not beautiful.

As for Ridge Racer- DS has the short end of the gearshift there. If I do buy the DS, I'll be going for Drill Spirits first.

I guess the turn-out is different in different places. When I went to my gamestore there were like 50 people there. All playing Hunters multiplay and Pictochat. Howevevr when I went to buy Halo 2 their were few people there. I think the turn-out really matters on whatever deal and special offer their dishing out.

So... When will it be out in Europe?
I will prolly just end up kicking some kid's butt and stealing his DS...

It's like they witnessed the Rapture. I know holy events won't be coming from a DS screen, so...

Played Metroid Hunters some more. I like the control scheme, but the idea of holding the unit in one hand and a styus in another is starting to worry me. I could see this 'portable' losing much portability due to the akwardness.

It actually looks a lot better on the screen; and it does feature the best display of 2D/3D graphics among all the existing Spider-man GBA handheld titles released. (Comparing it to N-Gage Spidey isn't saying much).

The best way to visualized the shift in 2D/3D is to think of Klonoa. So far, I am enjoying it, but I still find Feel the Magic is the more creative among the bunch.

Short impressions here, and by short, I mean EXTREMELY short, because I need to get back to playing my DS.

Super Mario 64 DS = handheld bliss. I personally have fallen in love with the touch screen analog control, it works so damn well, and mixed with the nostalgia of playing Mario 64 again for my "first time", I am loving this game. I havn't even gotten around to playing Feel the Magic or Spiderman. The system itself, like I'm sure has been stated many times, is very very sturdy, including the screen, and doesn't feel like it will break anytime soon. Also, holding the system IMO will get tiresome, I have found myself putting it down on a book on my lap, or a table, the pinky deal under the system just isn't working out for me. Regardless, I really can't wait to see what this system has to offer in the future, the possiblities are really endless.

Did you try it with the thumb strap? It takes some getting used to but it's one of the better configurations offered which kind of mimicks playing the keyboard/mouse.

As long as it looks better than Asphalt Urban GT, it's touted as a simulation game but in actuality, it felt more like a dry arcade racer.

They should've put the caption: "The DS...it's so bad."

Spidey 2 looks fun, and I'm glad it follow the same thing as Prime Hunters, where it's much better looking on the system than in stills, something that seems to be a trend, as I expected.
