That's my problem with their late fee policy. But why would I have a problem with them charging me late fees when I return something late? Movies say "5 day rental", not "5 day rental, but if you want to let it slide to 8 or 9 for free that's fine, we don't like making money anyway."

People still rent DVDs from Blockbuster? I have been doing Netflix for about 2 months and it is way better. It's only 17.99 a month for 3 out at a time and you pay absolutley no late fees. The have an awesome catalouge of movies--there has been only one movie I wanted to see that they did not have. They have a lot of Japanese/Hong Kong movies and anime as well. Plus they have workout videos, documentaries, you name it. Netflix is the future of renting DVDs.

Seriously, it doesn't matter how much the late fees are. Return the movie on time. Hand it to a person, if you think they won't check the returns bin. What we did at the video store where I worked was we collected all the films returned while we were closing the store, put them in a seperate bin, and then anything returned after that was checked in late. I would think Blockbuster has a similar policy, since the computer asks if you're charging a late fee when you check the film in and you can say "no".

If their fees are more than the rental price that's a little excessive. If they charge the same as the rental price, there's no room for complaint. If it's less, you should thank them because they are losing money.

I jumped the gun a lil' too quickly over late fee pricing point.
I was trying to highlight how a more lenient poicly on retails and the dates they are due on could lead to less hassle for the more punctually handicapped[me].


But self brooding aside, this news doesn't hit too hard for my area.
Our BB gives full week retails for releases that have had a fair self life, which I find quite pimp.

Easiest thing to do is to stick the receipt underneith the plastic of the box, that way you can just look at it and see exactly when it's due back (the date is printed right there). And if you think it's going to be late, and it to the clerk. They can help ya out if it's not too long after noon.

And it's sick that netflix dropped their prices. More reason to keep the service. I had Gamefly but the turn around time was too long. I have a BB Gamerpass now (got the 1st month for 15 bucks). BB also has a movie pass too. The heat from Netflix scared 'em.

Only reason I'll go to Blockbuster now is the fact they just opened a Gamerush here.

Trade in any 3 preowned titles, and get any preowned for 10 bucks? Not to mention they got alot of the big name titles EB charges 45 bucks for, it's nice to trade in 3 shitty 2 dollar games and get one for 10.

Not to mention their trade in credit, it'll still 30 bucks for alot of 2-3 month old game, not to mention shit like Fable gets 35!!

This store definately rules.

Comcast's On Demand service is the future.

Here's my beef with Blockbuster's policy: When I rent a movie, I rent it so that I can watch it that night, not like 3 days later. So, the 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 day rental deal doesn't help me out at all, and all it does is inflate the price. "Ohh, it's only $4 for 5 days!!!1" Well, I don't know about you guys, but I only watch a movie once when I rent it, so I only need it for one night, maybe two to get it back on time. A little rental place that I used to live by was nice, because it offered all rentals for either 2 days or 5 days. 2 days was like $2.50, and 5 was like $4.50. That way, the customer gets the best of both worlds. When I have it longer, it just means that it's more likely that I'll forget to return it.

Regarding the "by noon" system, it's not unfair or anything, it's clearly stated everywhere that states the due date, but realistically, someone who operates on a normal schedule can only return a movie before noon twice a week, on Saturday and Sunday.
