So If anyone is getting any games/consoles, care to tell us? This is what I have so far.
Crystal Xbox, 2 Crystal S Pads, Halo 2 Collectors Edition, GTA Double Pack. All for £113.
Also going to get Burnout 3 and XBox LIVE. £70 for both next weekend.
Then all I have to do is what till christmas to play them all.
For Christmas, I'll likely get GTA: SA and maybe a modded Xbox. I'm hoping for a DS, but that'll depend on how well this bifocal lens works with it.
If funds allow, a DS and a game, maybe Mario.

I'm going to buy most of the games I really want for myself, but I plan on asking for Metroid Prime 2 and Mario Power Tennis.
It's sad that it's getting to the point where the only way I want Nintendo games is if they are gifts.

If I wanted to play a game as good as the N64 one, Ill, surprise surprise, play the N64 one. Releasing the same fucking game four years later is inexcusable. There are so many examples this year of great sequels - Rome: Total War, Half-Life 2, Ratchet & Clank 3, Halo 2, San Andreas - and its funny that the one big company doing the lazy rehash sequel this year is Nintendo.Quote:

Ratchet and Clank 3 is really, REALLY good stuff. It is certainly an excellent sequel.
But anyway, on the Nintendo front, Viewtiful Joe 2 and Metroid Prime 2 seem to be some good sequel outings, though I agree that their efforts in porting over old N64 games to the DS seems lazy.
I had fun with RnC 3, but the single player is still derivative of 1 and 2, and the multiplayer is only good because it exists online (just as with a lot of non-racer type console games)
Ratchet & Clank 3 has a brand new full-featured online mode, for one thing. And San Andreas is a lot bigger, with a whole shitload of new features, like the territory, and bikes, and character customization, and so forth. Halo 2's a huge improvement on the original, and Rome Total War, yea, huge jump over Medieval Total War.Quote:

Yeah, but adding stuff doesn't matter when it isn't as good as what already exists.
RnC 3 isn't much fun online.
Halo 2 plays like the original but with support for mor eplayers (which is good, but PCs have done this since 1996)
GTA's character customization is stupid. Everything takes way too long to load, and building muscle is annoying. Riding bikes sucks too (X, X, X, X, X, ad infinitum to get anywhere)

HOLY CRAP! I must have stumbled in a time warp to the late 90's when this was a big deal. No offense, but I guess that just doesn't excite me anymore.
IMO, Halo to Halo 2 and (especially here) GTA: VC to GTA: SA are huge leaps over the previous games.

And Mario Tennis hasnt been made "more fun", its the same shit as it was four years ago. Which is the problem. I do expect some sort of progression and advancement in a sequel, especially when its been four fucking years and a platform leap between them. But I guess thats my problem.
I meant on one Xbox (most people don't LAN 4 Xboxes, and now you can be by yourself and play with 15 others).

So any improvement is seen by me as "not much". A significant improvement would make me change my second answer to "no". I just look at it differently.
In my case though, I never owned an N64, so playing the new Mario Tennis is a completely new experience for me. I agree that Nintendo is a bunch of lazy worthless bitches when it comes to updating their series, but when it's one I've never owned or played much before, I don't let it stand in my way of owning it.Quote:

There are some really great levels designed just for multiplayer, like the sewer level with its long passageways, or the one really tiny, enclosed, nearly circular-shaped arena with the magnetic walls and ceiling. The Metropolis level is a great one for Capture the Flag.
I could go on and on about how great this game is--just ask diffusionx. ;) Seriously, try it!
