Then, halfway through the semester, theres the drop date where you can drop a class and not have a grade on your transcript. By then, you can lo longer add a class, and about 1/4th of the people there on the first day have dropped the class. At the end of the semester, there is an estimated 2/3-1/2 of the class left to take the final and hopefully pass.
My school also has registration appointments. That means that each and every student has a date and time at which they can begin to register for classes. This year I was ~170 in line and was able to sign up for the classes I wanted. But last year I got royaly screwed, and my date was like 4 days after registration had begun. I did not get into a Sociology, Speech, or History class.
I'm not able to take the classes I need because there are a ton of fucktards out there that sign up for classes, take spots, decided "fuck it, I'll try again next semester" and drop halfway through. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Yargh.
I remember that. Teachers would devote the entire first class to convincing people that wouldn't take it that they should leave so that some of the stragglers could get in. No one ever would, and then two weeks later, half of the class would get a 50% or lower on a test and never show up again. Classes that began with around 30 people would have 8 or so by the end =\Quote:

Had one cool teacher that would just take everyone in. The limit would be 20 or something, and there'd be 35 students in the class.
The community college I went to also had a screwed registration system, where it didn't check if you took the pre-requisites for a course or not, so I was able to take whatever I wanted, instead of sitting through "intro to computers" before taking a programming class... etc
Have you ever thought of going out of state? Unless the school you are goign to has tons of clout, there is no point in putting up with that.Quote:

I'd like to point out that when you're studying for 10 hours straight, head full of a bunch of wierd facts and its the middle of the night and you're sleep deprived, Journey and Starship are pretty rockin. Thats all.
That would either require lots of money, or a fatty student loan. And:Quote:

After the Spring 2005 semester, my tuition will cease to be free. See, I'm in the lower income part of the imcome braket, meaning I get a fee waiver for my classes. Everyone else who doesn't get this has to pay $28 per unit. I know thats not alot, but for a single income home with 2 other dependents, its alot. And if memory serves me correct (which I really hope it doesn't) you only get this fee waiver for 4 semesters.
So I don't know what I'm going to be doing in the fall. I might still be at Palomar, I might not. Who knows. Hopefully I'll get another Pell Grant or some finiacial aid in the form of a nice check.
God damn it. Pulled an all-nighter last night to finish up (well, begin and finish up) a 10 page paper. Now I'm doing it again tonight for a 15 pager due tomorrow. Then I have an exam Wednesday, and another paper due Friday. And somehow I have to find time to grade 60 final exams for the class I'm TAing. Fuck school.
Good venting thread.
there aren't enough hours in the week to do what you're talking about.

I would have done better if I HADN'T FALLEN ASLEEP AT 7:00 PM!!
wtf man I was studying then all of a sudden I feel asleep until about 5:00 am the next morning(So I could make the drive to UCF in time for the 7:00 am Final.
It sucks working and going to college full-time. Most of the time I end up so wrecked just from driving back and forth to school I started taking naps daily just so I'll be up for work(Last thing I need is to fall asleep at the wheel while delivering pizza). Hell it also sucks registering late and ending up with ALL MORNING CLASSES MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY!!!! ARGH!!
Bonus: I decide to turn in one of my final papers late because I figured why settle for a "B" paper when I could easily write an "A" paper. The professor was only going to take 5 points off for it. Ironic thing was is that when I got the paper back he gave me a 92 "A" but with the five points knocked off I was left with an 87 "B" paper..DOH... Lesson learned; You may BS on your actual paper but never BS on the sources. Include AT LEAST one non-internet source.
At least I'm done..and KOTOR 2 will be out tomorrow to help my nurse my wounds(Though I ain't buying it until Thursday so I can get the free guide from Target)
