I don't see how 5% after inflation is unreasonable in the long term at all.

Yeah, that seems pretty conservative. You can get ~10% in some offshore banks. If you only claim what you withdraw for living expenses (lock the rest in renewable investments) you wouldn't pay any income tax, and whatever you give to charity is fully deductible. Remember, the rich pay accountants, not taxes. :)

Maybe I have been sort of negative lately...will have to watch out for it. My options now are to work or live on the street and starve. In a more general aspect life might be about doing what you want but in order to do the things you want you have to do a lot of things you don't want to do. I mean, I suppose if I wanted to I could quit my job and find a way to stay alive being homeless or without work but my life would completely suck and that's not the route I want to take. Working allows me to do a lot of things I want to do but when the alarm starts going off at 6AM I certianly don't want to get up and go to work and deal with bullshit all day.

Something my guidance counselor would say? Hah, that's a good one. I think that most people that go for counseling are very weak minded people who are not able to handle serious problems on their own.

Don't get me wrong dude, I am in no way negative or "emo". I don't cry myself to sleep at night (in fact I don't cry period), I don't constanly complain about how my life sucks and how depressed I am. I'm actually a real happy person with a real happy personality who is viewed very negative in a joking manner but an overall very optimistic person.

Nobody does, but that doesn't mean life sucks. It just means that work sucks. More specifically, working for a corporation.

I have a lawyer whom I pay for his counsel on legal matters. I don't know anything he knows. I also have a broker who will be advising me on stocks. Does that make me weak-minded or unable to handle serious problems on my own?

Well, for one, I never said that life sucks I just said it wasn't about doing what you want. I love my life and don't think it sucks at all.

And for the second part, I was referring to "emotional" counseling and you should've picked up what I was referring to as well you fucking idiot :P

And before somebody takes one of my goddamn posts out of context again (which has been happening more the past month then it ever has and my posting style has not exactly changed much either), I did not call Mike a "fucking idiot" in a serious manner, it was a sarcastic joke.

You have more options than work the job you do now or live in the street or starve. I mean, maybe you really wanted to be in the miliatary, that was your dream so you actually cannot do that. But other than that what is it that you would like to do with your life?
