Effective May 21st, the GCN is $150:
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2002--Less than one year after successfully launching NINTENDO GAMECUBE(TM) at a mass-market price, Nintendo of America Inc. is dropping the MSRP to $149.95, effective Tuesday, May 21, 2002.
To date, Nintendo has shipped more than 4.5 million systems worldwide and its hit title, Super Smash Bros.(TM) Melee, has topped the 2.5 million mark.
Today's announcement comes as the $27 billion interactive entertainment industry gathers in Los Angeles for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) to preview the latest and greatest games coming out this holiday.
"It's simple, really: Nintendo is committed to offering our players the best games and the best price," says Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America Inc. "We were the first manufacturer to reach the $199 price level and now we're leading the industry to $149 -- allowing even more players around the world to get their hands on our legendary favorites like Mario, Zelda, Star Fox and Metroid this year."

Say huh? I still have my receipt for Dreamcast, and... yup, it sho nuff says 199.95. Maybe it was taken out of context or something... oh well. Still great to have the confirmation.

Nah, I just think Nintendo was talking about systems that actually matter.
Its the game that everybody loves, its.... witty rebuttal time! on TNL
Can we pick it up on these posts about how Dreamcast wasnt mentioned because it doesnt matter? I dont think three is enough guys. Could you try to be a bit more sarcastic too? There doesnt seem to be enough of that going around.
Pheonix, sorry, but I only got one leg, the half circle on the left(top to bottom), then half circle right(bottom to top) always screws me up. I keep thinking they are on the same side.

Oh, you mean like the Gamecube? :jest:
Hell, at $150 it still isn't worth it. They should be paying us that much for having to wait so long until any good games come out.

Any good games or more good games? Nintendo should for more good games, but PS2 should've for any good games, considering how long it took.
Besides, my GC games are keeping me quite pleased right now. But I suppose I'm the minority, huh?

You and me and a couple of others.
As far as I can tell, Gamecube has more GREAT games for it than either X-Box or PS2. GREAT, not just good. I'm not biased either, I will own all three systems one day. It's just my opinion, pay no mind, GC haters.
