ebay bitch

some ass won one of my auctions, for a cent. She never got the item and recently emailed me asking about it. I told her that it was sent, and there was nothing I could do since she did not pay insurance.

I told her the best I could do is get another one, and give it to her free if she is willing to pay for the shipping on it.

=/ I don't really know what to do. I can't prove to her I sent it becuase my post office never gives me a reciet for the stuff I send out. I don't want to send her another shirt and loose 4 bucks, but I also don't want my paypal shut down because she "thinks" I'm ripping her off.

I'm this far from letting my moms dog shit on the other shirt and mailing that to her.

And funny. I take it that since your post office sucks, they may not have given you a shipping number for your item, which would confirm that it was sent. I thought about taking a pic of an item to be sent in the mailbox, to prove that it was in fact on its way. But that seemed insane, now, I'm not so sure.

Well it doesn't really suck. Just some old guy who has worked there forever. I've mailed over 85 things through him and never had a problem untill now.

It'd be a better idea to dip 4 dollar bills in a recently used toliet, let them dry and then mail them to her. Shipping on 400 pennies is gonna be costly but the "dirty" dollar bills could be sent for the cost of a stamp. Just a thought.

I always suggest at least putting it in all your item discriptions as a option to the buyer at their expense to CYA.

just ban her from your auctions if possible, i dunno how ebay works but you can ban ppl right? also if there is some rating system, bring hers down a notch (i dunno if you can). good job on the refund - wise ironplant.

for my ebay items, i always get delivery confirmation. whether the buyer pays for it or not. You get a tracking number and a receipt. even without insurance, this is proof enough that you mailed the package out, and has saved my ass numerous times. i think it costs 35 cents. you can always add this fee into your auctions and charge 4.35 or 4.50 for shipping

yeah - just take more precautious next time ip, do what DNG said and offer insurance at the buyers expense.

I was on the other side of something like this. A guy who said he sent me the item but I never got it. Wouldn't refund my money. Finally gave me like 2/3 of my money. 7 months later the item arrives at my parent's house. The guy just wrote the address wrong (and I know he was given the right address because it was via paypal). Most stuff that gets lost in the mail is due to stuff like that. I'd have contacted him and sent him his money back if he wasn't such an asshole about the whole thing the first time and ignored my request for delivery confirmation.

You don't have to insure stuff to get deivery confirmation. If you sell ANYTHING on ebay, just pay the 35cents for DC.

I guess the bottom line here is a negative feedback worth $4.01?

She could be lying too, you have no way of knowing if she really did get the item.

Back during E3, this guy made a fuckton of auctions for the Halo 2 posters that were all over E3. He said he had them, so I did the buy it now for about 14 bucks.

A week later I send him an email asking where it is, OH THEY'RE COMING....Wait, I thought you said you had them. YEAH WELL THERE WAS A PROBLEM SO THEY'RE BEING DELAYED. You said you had them, as in you physically had them. OMFG GET OFF MY CASE MAN!

So I tell him to refund my money, he amazingly did so, so I left him negative feedback about it. Well, when you leave negative feedback for someone on ebay, they get to do it right back to you. So now I have negative feedback from some scammer calling me a crybaby.

Months later on Halo.bungie, theres a story about the exact same thing, but from a bunch of other people.

EBay sucks.

If I sell something on eBay, insurance is generally MANDATORY and at buyer's expense. I'll also get delivery confirmation (added to my S&H along with insurance) whether they want it or not for two reasons- the buyer can check on the shipment, and I can check on the shipment myself to make sure that the buyer isn't trying to gyp me when they really got the item.

I thought Ebay had a thing against leaving retalitory feedback just for the hell of it?

I was always under the impression that if you leave negative feedback for someone, for a good reason, and then they leave you a negative just to be an ass, that you can get Ebay to wipe that one out for you?

It comes down to a "I say this, he says that". If you have proof you sent it (like delivery confirmation) then I think they take it away.

In my ebay auctions, I offer insurance and have a disclaimer that if their item isn't insured, I'm not responsible for items lost in the mail. If they actually pay for insurance, though, I hardly ever actually insure the item when I ship it if the item is under $20. I figure I'm better off keeping that $1.30 each time, and giving a refund when it's required. I've sold over 1000 items on ebay doing this, only had to refund about 5 times.

There's no way in hell I would have insured an item selling for $4, even if they did pay for it. I don't really see this as dishonest, since they're paying for me to insure it instead of the post office. I know a lot of people swear by mandatory delivery confirmation and insurance, but I just haven't run into enough problems on ebay to warrant doing it.

But anyway IP, how long has this auction been over? I would seriously just tell her to wait a couple weeks. If you sent it first class or media mail, it could take awhile. Sometimes stuff just gets stuck somewhere. If it's been like a month, I'd go ahead and give her the refund. I wouldn't even leave negative feedback. It's never in your best interest to do it; only leave negative feedback if they've already left it for you. Giving negative feedback is a sure way to decrease your rating.

Ironplant: what is your ebay status? If you have like 100 or so (and it sounds like you might have, with "making so much money out of ebay"), then you have a pretty good case, as it is very unlikely that you are ripping her off for a 1 cent T-shirt deal.

She must suck to get so pissed off about something which costs so little that she has probably spent more on the electricity on her computer when emailing you offensive letters.

I would take it as a $4 lesson learned. Always cover your own ass with ebay auctions.

Trust me, this could have been a lot worse.
