I'll have to disagree on the names being cool. I almost spewed my drink all over my keyboard when the first one came up, and snickered at the rest of the names.

It reminds me of when I used to come up with fun names for old RPGs on the Genesis and PS1. I'd name my character ASSHOL or some such. Their names remind me of playing a game as THE MAN.

NPC: "Are you THE MAN?"
Boss: "THE MAN will never defeat me!"
Me: "I'm THE MAN."
King: "Thanks be to THE MAN!"

You get the idea. I can't wait to see if they use the literal translation of those names for America, and if the US Voice Actors can say those lines without laughing.

My guess is that they'll probably drop the "The" on all of them except "The End" which would sound even more silly if it was just "End".

You see? Personally I wouldn't mind them leaving the "The" on their names. It's not like it's the most ridiculous names the series has had. I mean, who here didn't chuckle or give a :wtf: when they heard the name "Revolver Ocelot" for the first time?

isnt that what i said? also ive seen the interview after g-phoria enough times (god they play it 19 times a day) where he said he would possibly produce other MGS games. just not do the rest of the work.

not knowing what an "ocelot" is i cant really laugh at it. i always though it was just a neat sounding word.

I liked the MegaMan X-esque names, and they only used them for the names of the bosses in two games :(

finally saw the 8 minute trailer. good stuff. every time i see parts of the scene with snake in the cemetery with the full militray dress on......chills. good looking cinematography there, and with the music. chills man.

Nope. The names will remain unchanged in the localized version.

I think some hollywood types need to start hiring Kojima to cut movie trailers.

I can't watch movie trailers anymore, 'cause they inevitably spoil the movie, but every trailer for MGS1,2,and 3 has been full of stuff that makes you wanna play the game, without giving too much away.

Hollywood could learn something.
