Wine is really third on my list behind whiskey and tequila, but I still enjoy drinking it with pasta. I wouldn’t say I’m any kind of expert, but I like to learn.
I found this great site for anyone out there who’d like to know more about which wines to buy and for what occasions. It lists good descriptions and rates each brand.
Not a wine drinker.
Wine is too expensive for what it is, and what it is isn't very good

Not if you know how to shop, and one bottle makes a couple of people very happy. Plus it's not only a different flavor that's good with meals, but it gives you a different high.Quote:

Anyway my dad is a certified sommalier, it goes with his job. We always have a lot of good wine in the house, but most of it is not really expensive. (The really good shit dad gets as tips for his jobs, but most of the wine we get is like 10-20 dollars a bottle.)
You really just have to know what's good and what isn't, and that's not so concrete. Every year is a different batch of grapes and so it's a different flavor/quality. No one brand can guarantee the same quality every year, but some brands are still just made better, or in other words they have a better process than cheaper/other brands. There are lots of resources to check this stuff out and keep current, but I don't pay attention to them.
I can make a list of some of my favourite red wines later, or even write a little faq with the help of my dad. White wine I have no idea though.
And a bad red wine can be really really awful, so I can see how that might put you guys off of it. You might also have to try a few different styles, like Chianti, Merlot, etc.. I'll get on this later. I mean, I like a good beer, but it's hard for me to get drunk off it because I get full so quickly, and I definitely throw in for the hard liquor, but to eat a sensual steak and get blitzed on a good red wine, then watch a movie and fuck all night is definitely one of my favourite things.
My roomate is brewing a couple of gallons of wine in his closet. Most of it is with wild grapes we picked and cleaned. The rest is with apples. Still have another month at least before we can bottle.
Awesome let me know how that works out! I've done that before with my rich-ass grandparents who grew all their own grapes in their backyard. It's pretty fun.
