A recent Got-Next Article featured an inside look at Guerilla games. A slip of the tongue revealed the possibility of a Killzone 2, although it hasn't been confirmed yet.
Killzone, according to the reviews, was a dud. Hopefully Guerilla will learn from their errors and fix up some flaws in the sequel while still maintaining that stylish look that Killzone had.
Anyway, opinions?

Don't kill me for bumping this but I just had to say that I found Killzone to be pretty neat at times, overall it's a shitty game but I'm possitive about the future of Killzone 2 (as long as it on PS3).
As single player experience goes I look forward to it more than Halo 3. Quite the eye opener in some ways since I never had a problem with halo's art before picking up Killzone. Hopefully some stuff that wasn't being held back by the hardware will be ironed out too.
I praise the decision to develop a Killzone 2. If they can improve on their mistakes and can churn out a game that is both accesible and fun, I'll buy it. Killzone was a sloppy, unplayable mess.
I thought the demo was pretty cool.
They're still not getting my money though.
Is Killzone $10 yet? I kinda want to try it but it's not really anywhere close of having a priority over much of anything.
Killzone is actually a pretty awesome game. The framerate issues are somewhat bothersome, and the controls aren't as sharp as Halo's, but the game design itself is great. The artistic styling, texturing, and coloring all rock hard. The level designs are great, and the sound is absolutely amazing. Playing the game reminds me of Medal of Honor bereft of stealth. Instead of Halo's run and gun antics, Killzone is much more about tactical positions, taking cover and popping up to shoot down enemies.
I definitely recommend the game's single player. The framerate and controls, whlie not a problem in single player once you've adjusted to them, are really frustrating when playing competitively, so I don't recommend the multiplayer much (though you can do split-screen with bots, creating a pseudo-cooperative game with teams).
EDIT: I forgot to mention how rad the control scheme is. It makes excellent use of the PS2's button layout and is strangely satisfying.
Killzone is far from being a sloppy mess. The game is quite fun, especially in multiplayer online, the only problem is that the single player is repetitive. The game's emphasis on picking your shots carefully and not wasting ammo appealed to me. The greastest thing about this game is its art direction and visual style, I think they did an amazing job in that department. I feel that Killzone has a lot of potential, a sequel would be awesome. I'd love to see them beef up the multiplayer with more modes, and I'd like to play as the Helghast instead of the ISA in single player.
I never quite adjusted to the framrate but some stages where worse than others (I hated the swamp but the research station was pretty good on both out and in-door sections for example). The music was nice but the voices where retarded at times, enemies sounded like they where close but were infact standing 50 meters away.Team mates yelling "falling.. back" six times in a row or just saying things that doesn't make sense, good voice actors though.
Do a lot of fps games have a run button btw? I thought it was a nice feature and I didn't mind the fact that you couldn't jump, infact I hope they skipp it next time around.
A lot of PC FPS games have a sprint button. I can't think of any console-only ones that do, though.
A lot of times the option menu has an "always run" option, which is turned on by default.
I'm playing Killzone right now, and it's really not a bad game at all. Has a few problems, namely the aiming controls, but nothing too serious. The whole atmosphere is extremely well done, both visuals and audio. A PC version would have been kickass. WASD + mouse all the way.
EDIT: The ability to lean would be great in this game.
Yeah, the only things that hurt the game were the repetitiveness of single player, the lack of maps and modes for multi, and having to use the terrible analogue sticks on the dual shock to aim, though by the end I had the targeting down pat.
I'm dumb, but framerate is a HUGE issue with me in any game. I can notice any drop in framerate with the drop of a dime. It practically ruined Super Mario Kart GBA in multiplayer mode just because it slowed down just a little.Quote:

Why? It'd be an excellent launch title. And there's no reason for Killzone 2 on PS2--the first one is evidence enough that Guerilla needs more hardware power.Quote:
