UTXMP

For all you Unreal Tournament 2004 players, UTXMP is out. Its a multiplayer class-based mod that started its life out for Unreal 2. I played it to death before,and now I am a happy man! Its basically capture the flag with vehicles and the ability man turrents and such. go to www.free-monkey.com for more details. That being said, I downloaded it and it crashes when the match starts up. I'm running a Radeon 9800 pro, though, so you Nvidia guys should give it a go and see if it works for you. I've heard nothing but good things from guys who got it to work. Its a 300 meg download, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. Just patch it for the ATI guys :cry:

got it to work, I just had to re-install the patch 3339 again. Its all good now. Anyone else interested in this mod?

Try it and find out for yourself. It's still beta, but it is its own game, trust me.
Very Very team-oriented. Console FPS's can't match up to PC ones. The arguement is old and pointless.

Why do rubes think that Halo invented teamplay on FPS's? It makes me sad to share the internet with said ppl.

I mean hell, Day of Defeat has been out for almost 5 years, and that wasn't even the first one.

Puh-lease.

PC FPS is a visceral experience. But what w/the upgrading and the server browsing and the crashes and the patches and the re-installing...blahblahblah.

I'll take Halo 2 on teh_XBL every time. Inside of 2 minutes and I'm logged in and in a (competitive, cheat-free) firefight.

*Obligatory disclaimer proclaiming my love for both platforms: Halo 2 is the ONLY fps worth playing on consoles. PC FPS is awesome. The ease-of-use of Halo 2 is...awesome. No. Really.

If you're lucky. Cheating happens, both with wall/floor glitches and/or level design that (I don't know if purposefully or not) allows for strange vehicle usage, and there's also the modem/router cheat, but they're banning those assholes.

I was able to play Halo 2 for the first time Saturday and it truly revealed how flawed and over hyped the Halo games are, I couldnt enjoy myself due to the cumbersome controller.. a mouse and keyboard is a must imo.

The single player was done so much better in Half Life 2 it isnt funny, the multi player gets creamed by UT2K4 hands down.

The game is slow as molasses and the jumping is as if the in game characters have just drunken a can and a half of red bull, these games are flawed and cant hold a candle to the leaders of the pack on pc...

Where did all this come from?

I'm just saying that turrets and vehicles in an FPS was done with Halo. UT >>>> Halo, but the thread's description of this mod doesn't make me all that excited for it, since it just sounds like a Halo mod for UT.
