If anything, I think he was being too humble. His lament over the implementation of a time limit was really sincere, I could tell, but I don't blame him for not making the Mona Lisa of game concepts.

He seems sad whenever he mentions that he had to bow to certain game development norms or stipulations.

Katamari Damacy makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

That was a great read, thanks for the scans. I particularly liked the bit at the end where he commented how nice everyone was to his "half baked idea", plus his observation on what happened when he let others have input on the initial game design.
