I clicked this link expecting something mildly amusing at best... and, well...
Holy shit. I can't believe bipedal robots that can move that fluidly and gracefully with such perfect balance exist. There were a number of parts where I had to think that they couldn't actually be doing that, but... wow. That's insanely cool.

I can see it all now. Dancing robots invading, dancing down the streets, dancing across the land. People can't help but dance with them. Noone's going to work or school, they're all dancing. France surrendered. The UN deployed forces, but the crazy beat took them over, too. The whole world is joined together in the miraculous crazy robot dance. Come to think of it, it'd be sorta like Katamari Damacy. only dancing.

Wow, I looked at Sony's page for this thing. It can talk and carry on conversations, and sing, and conduct the Tokyo Orchestra and pick up supermodels... QRIO has acheived so much in his short life, and I have acheived so little. I must destroy him, for he is so much more talented than I.

I think I've figured out the hook that's going to make this thing the product to have: Downloadable personalities. Right now the thing is programmed to act like a cut curious child-like thing. But if I could make it act like a jive talking street hustler, or a meglomaniacal genius bent on global domination, or 19th century gold-rush prospector, I would NEVER get sick of this.

At first I thought "Hmmm, kinda typical choppy sears catalog robot motion" then they just got more and more natural and fluid with the moves, quite impressive. I really like the fact that Japan is as obsessed with robots in real life as they are in anime. Will be interesting to see what happens in a decade or two from now. Maybe even scary.
