The stairs thing is a popular misconception. The Daleks apparently possess some kind of antigrav technology in their travel units which allows them to go up and down stairs. (The last Dalek story in the original series, "Rememberance of the Daleks", first reveals this by having the Doctor try and run up some stairs to get away from a pissed-off Dalek, only to see it floating up the stairs after him...)Quote:

No no. You're still mixed up. It isn't 'The Green Death' at all that you're thinking of. It's actually a four-parter called 'Inferno' and it's from Jon Pertwee's first season. And the companion isn't Sara Jane or Jo Grant, it's Caroline John in her final appearance as the cute geek scientist who loves tall boots Liz Shaw (even though she does spend half of it in a dominatrix outfit!). It is definitely an awesome adventure.
'Inferno' wasn't shot entirely on film (which gives it that awesome, gritty feel) but parts of it definitely were. 'Spearhead from Space', Pertwee's first adventure, was the only one that was shot completely with film. It's a great one.
By the way, the blond guy is 5th Doctor Peter Davison, who immediately followed Baker.
A friend and I went crazy last year and downloaded every single episode of Doctor Who ever. Every single one. (Even the ones that seem to be wiped out of existence - dedicated fans have tracked down the audio tracks of each show and applied stills from the program or production shots over it.) I've been watching the show straight through without any jumping around. I've gone through the entirety first and second doctors, William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton, and they're both great.
I bring this old-ass thread from the dead because season 3 of the revived series is currently airing. There HAS to be some fans here - the show is huge in Britain!
I personally really like David Tennant very much as the (10th) Doctor and his new companion is great too.
I didn't know they already started the new season. DLing those eps right now. David Tennant may be my favorite Doctor, but it could just be that the writing got leaps and bounds better last season.
I've been watching the new season. It's really great so far. I love David Tennant as the Doctor, and I'm curious what the big reveal will be for the last episode. This last two parter with the Daleks was really amazing.
I'm hoping they bring the Master back this season.
I've only had the chance to see 2 episodes with the wax dummys and the end of earth. My luck with staying awake at night hasn't been holding out too well so I'll just have to find out which sites carry the program.
