Wow I'm so late to this party but it's been a great read...
I first started collecting GF magazines when the infamous Sept. 1995 issue came out which I own two copies of (both with offensive text intact). I picked up the issue with Sonic 3 on the cover sometime before that randomly.
I have almost every issue from then on minus 2 or 3 issue as well as several older ones. I have issues #2 and 3 of Megafan and the solo issue of GameGO! (as well as most of the Gamers' Republics). Man I miss those mags.
I used to go to GF_Tavern all the time right before and after Dreamcast came out... I remember when someone came online and broke the name 'Dreamcast' to us before it was publicly announced and we all laughed at it.
I went by the name 'bobofatty' at first but quickly switched to "Megaman." I was pretty immature and confrontational and used to go at it with a dude named 'Magmadragoon' (anyone remember him??). Also some dude named Rivera I think was super-popular.
Dango and shidoshi used to be on there a lot, as well as ECM sometimes. For some reason, I feel as though I was there when Knightmare came on drunk but I can't be sure...
Wow. Am I late to the party.
I started reading Gamefan back when I was in highschool. If i remember right the first issue I ever picked up had MDK as the cover art. I grabbed it because it had the first pics of Cloud and Sephiroth I had ever seen and from that point on, I was hooked.
I remember spending WAY too many nights in the old #Tavern and #Trivia (Damn that Makaze!!!) chatting away with Daitokuji, Morrigan, Randerson, Riv, Aurelis and so many others.
I wonder if that chat is still around in any form. It would be fun to say Hi to all those guys again.
