Gohron, yes, I do care. We're all citizens of the world, and it's easy to imagine how I'd feel if my entire family had been wiped out by a tragedy like this. I probably should have said "good" instead of massive, but I'm assuming that there will be many more deaths announced. I wouldn't be shocked if a 100,000 death toll was reached.

so you have donated your money and time to help in rwanda then? Theres a lot of things going horribly wrong in the world, im gald youa re there to pick up the pieces. I myself do what i can and try to give to the church charites that are going to the problem spots(since they really have a longer history of helping in these kind of situations then most other charities i know, so i know th money will go to the right place, unlike a lot of the charities that have popped up). but i really admire your global worldview that allows you to help in every one of those situations. If this comes of as trolling, fuck it, people of "certain political affiliations" care just as much as those of the left, we are just evidently less smug and self righteous about it. People do what they can, but you cant save everyone and you sure as hell cant sincerely "care" about a bunch of people you have never seen and would not know if you fell over them. I can care in a general sense but honestly, to sincerely say that each and every death caused in every disaster is going to be a deep and personal tragedy, that not a sincere statement, anymore than i expect a masai tibesman to feel a deep and crippling loss about 9/11. Its fucked up that we let self righteous political nonsense into this thread, it was a major tragedy, and hopefully people will do what they can, but no money will bring them back, nor will it undo a cent of the damage, people will have to rebuild and hopefully our donations will help, but realistically, im not a carpainter, not adoctor, and not a civil engineer, ill give money, pray for them, but beyond that, reality is a sad herd thing.

Nah, it wasn't really the philosophy. It was the constant questioning of my beliefs by the "others", who were hostile to the fact somebody who is a rabid secularist could share a similar moral outlook. They expected I was in their as some sort of spy to sabotage their efforts, it was demoralising. But the straw that broke the camel's back was when I saw this church bitch try to teach a mentally retarded Muslim boy the greatness of Jesus and the heresy of the Quran. That shit didn't sit with me well.

I'm going to volunteer for the Cancer Council soon. I'll be way more effective their because of my training in the field and my PWNAGE at Excel.

Not that it matters. But the UNs comment wasn't unwarranted, Australia had already donated $25 million and the majority of personal when the US pledged $15 million. Do you know how much bigger the US economy is compared to the Australian economy? The US government was throwing away loose change.
